... If my sister's friend who I found out works for DPS in Austin rushed my application? Not saying that he could/would, but if he did, should I feel shame?

You ask that question on a forum with a thread titled "the waiting room"?

Where honest people have been playing by the rules, some of them waiting almost one year?

I bet you voted for Obama.

Only you can answer that question.

OTOH, if I was your sister, I'd tell you to go pound sand for asking to put my "friend" in a situation that could cost them their job.

DPS isn't the big problem anyway. You'd still wait months like the rest of us for the background checks to get done. "rlol"

But that is pretty reprehensible behavior. Why would you brag to those of us who are following the rules that you think you can cheat the system? Do you expect us to be proud of you? :???:

I won't answer the question of right or wrong, but I will say that if I had the chance to do that, I would. Just don't post out here bragging about it.

If you didn't ask you didn't do anything.

If you ask her to rush your application that's no different from all the people who call their state rep to jump the line.

Little different in my mind. I'm close to calling mine, because I'm on day 79. By LAW, they are supposed to have it resolved in 60 days. I see nothing "line jumping" about letting your congressmen know that DPS is not doing their job as the law says they're supposed to.

Sounds like he expects to not even wait the 60 days to get his stuff done. Convincing a bureaucrat to shuffle papers for you is a little different from trying to let our legislators know the system needs help. If enough of us are calling complaining about these absurd delays, maybe they'll hire some more DPS workers...
