Fingerprint Re-run: Now how long?

#1

Post by quoheleth »

My prints got kicked back. I found it interesting that DPS uses such a poor form letter that it covers a whole multitude of needs.

Took my new cards to the local Harris County Constable's office (Precinct 3) and got re-printed. Unfortunately, we goofed one print, so the officer "X"-ed through the goof and reprinted that finger next to it. I have a bad feeling about it...

Nevertheless, no extra card, so I mailed my newly printed cards on the 7th. Checked the DPS website tonight and it shows "processing." Any idea how long before I find out if the prints were accepted or kicked again?

not sure anyone knows that answer! I just posted complaining about sending in my third set. I'm at 120 days today.

I'm guessing it's time to start thinking about enlisting some help from your state rep or senator. I don't KNOW that this will help, but I do know you'll at least hear from the DPS if the rep calls. My feeling is to use every resource you can get.

I'm curious...when you need to have fingerprints redone, do you have to pay to get it done?

Glad to see your post. My first time on this site. My CHL prints got returned too. The tip of the little pinky was a little fuzzy according to the fingerprinting services. Sent new prints in, still same problem with pinky, have not heard anything in over 30 days on this app. Frustrated. I emailed the CHL instructor and he said that he never heard of fingerprints being rejected before. I called DPS in Austin. They said do what the form letter tells you to do. That was it. Should I contact the TX Senator or whom?

Welcome to the forum auntlucy!

Fingerprints being rejected is not a new issue; it happens sometimes. There are others on here who have had their prints rejected 2-3 times before being accepted.

Until you resubmit your prints as requested and they are rejected a 2nd or 3rd time, going to your Representative or Senator will probably do no good.

If you haven't returned your new set of prints as requested, I would ask the person taking the prints to submit a note stating this was the best image that can be gotten on the pinky. That will many times appease them on the quality and they will go ahead and accept them.

Good luck!!

I included a letter that I wrote, stating that due to a birth defect, my prints are abnormal.

If the prints get kicked again, I'll ask the officer at the Constable's office if he would be willing to do the same. Or, I might drive all the way across Houston to one of the electronic fingerprint scanning places. The one nearest to me doesn't do CHL prints, but does prints for everything else (huh???).

As to the cost - no, it didn't cost me anything. My CHL instructor offered to do it, but our schedules never worked out. My local Harris County Constable's office did it for free.

Mine got rejected also. I went to the electronic fingerprinting place this time. I am hoping that since I went to the place they (DPS) recommended via an advertisement in my rejection letter package they will go ahead and get mine finished. I thought it was a bit odd that they would be recommending specific places like that. I cost $10.00 but hopefully they will not reject these.
