CHL App sent - A few questions for you guys...

#1

Post by panic911 »

Completed my CHL training class last Saturday and paperwork was sent on Monday. Now, a few questions for you guys:

1. How long should I be expecting it to take?
2. What are there current wait times?
3. Does having a Department of Defense security clearance help to speed things up?

Thank you guysfor your input.

Cheers,

Jason

I have no answers only a welcome to the forum. There will be several that can give the answers though. We are glad to have you aboard.

What did your instructor do for the 10 quality hours you spent together if he didn't cover any of this with you? Oh... sorry, did I type that out loud?Strike that last statement.

OK, With your PIN number, you can check the status of your application online here: https://www.texasonline.state.tx.us/NAS ... AppManager

If you call the DPS before 60 days from the date they received your app, it will only annoy them, so just try not to do that. I hope you sent your app in "return receipt requested" so you know when they got it.

You can expect 60 days minimum processing time. No, your DOD clearance does not buy you anything. Be patient and pass the time getting to know all your fellow waiters in "The Waiting Room". Oh, and go to the range and practice.

The only way I can see a DOD security clearance helping you is with your fingerprints. The FBI has done an in depth, door to door, personal investigation in cooperation with DOD for a TS Clearance or higher. They are also the ones that receive your fingerprints. If you have a current SSBI done by the FBI, it should be a quick response by the FBI concering your fingerprints.

Other than that...well...no go.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info. Hossisfree, that's what I was thinking. The FBI should have all of my fingerprints and info. I had my clearance renewed / SSBI done back in 2004. It's good for 5 years so that shouldn't be a problem.

Cheers,

Jason
