Well it has been 280 days since my application was received in Austin and still nothing. They are waiting on the last background check. and have been for about two months. How long is the longest you have heard?

Man, I thought my Utah CCW took a long time. Nothing compared to the problem you have. I'd be talking to someone about why so long...vscott wrote:Well it has been 280 days since my application was received in Austin and still nothing. Yeah, that's my question... who have you talked to in order to attempt to expedite this? I'm reminded of a Vietnamese dude I know... Ho Lee Cow.

Re: What's the record?
That is just stupid. There is no reason it just take that long.

Re: What's the record?
For the shortest time to get it???
My first renewal...17 days, mailbox to mailbox...That was wayyyyyy back in the day...
By the way, a co-worker friend of mine just received his initial license...He submitted it back in mid-April 2008...There was no mentioning of any problems with his application...It just takes so long for them to get to the actual start of looking at your information because of the volume of packets coming in...
My last renewal took the maximum time alotted for that process...

Wow. That's a long time. I'd get your state rep involved on that one.vscott wrote:Well it has been 280 days since my application was received in Austin and still nothing. They are waiting on the last background check. and have been for about two months. How long is the longest you have heard?

Re: What's the record?
Have you ever gone to the post office and saw how fast they do what they have to do? You know, how the snail could pass them? Well, what makes you think that the state employees are any different. Go and get your vehicle registration or your license renewed and see how long it take with you there watching what they do. What makes you think they are going to be any faster in Austin? This is just my observations from over the years and I haven't seen anything changing lately.

Re: What's the record?
Well it happened. Wife went to the mailbox, lo and behold there was a white envelope from DPS, addressed to her. She got hers today and I am still waiting. Currently 285 days and counting. I'm shooting for a full year.

Re: What's the record?
Wow! I am sorry to hear you have been waiting so long. How many counties have you lived or worked in? I have heard that is the longest part of the process. I hope you get it soon! You definitely have more patience than me because it took 7 weeks for me to get mine and I was about to go crazy waiting. Good luck!

Wow, 285 days, are you kidding? I'd be buttin some heads!
For some reason I have a feeling I'll be waiting a while, though my record is bare, places of residence only changed twice and all within the same county.. Still though, I have this feeling I'll be waiting.. It better not be 285 days though!

Re: What's the record?
Over a year ago, Mrs. Oldgringo's plastic took 160 days because of some geek rejecting three (3) sets of her fingerprints. Letters got her plastic freed. As far as I've heard, you are the winner.vscott wrote:Well it has been 280 days since my application was received in Austin and still nothing. If you're clean, you should have already written your Representative, State Senator, the head of DPS, the head of CHL and the Gov. Writing means writing, not phone calls.
If you're not clean, well...

Re: What's the record?
I am clean, crazy clean. I will take your advice and write more letters. I am enlisting the assistance of an attorney friend of mine for advice. He is extremely knowledgeable of the CHL laws and maybe the two of us can rattle a few cages.

I have lived at the same address for the past 5 years. I did have to fax them a copy of my Air Force retirement orders to prove I was honorably discharged, but that was back in early August. I am going to start writing letters. Reckon President Obama can help

Re: What's the record?
I just checked the track your application status page today. Yesterday it said processing application. Today it says Application Completed - license issued or certificate active. Now lets see what happens.
