Wow you mean things still have not gotten any better. I thought the DPS hired a bunch of folks to help alleviate the log jam. I mailed my CHL app in today. Guess it could be April 09 before I get mine!
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Thomas Jefferson

Re: "Waiting Room"
From I have been told DPS has hired more data entry folks but the number of "reviewers" has not increased leading to a new bottle neck jam on someone elses desk. Supposedly there is a plan to fix that too.
For me it was March - renewal packet sent in License recieved in Late June/Early July I think

Re: "Waiting Room"
So a coworker calls me this morning to tell me his status changed to active! He sent in his packet 4-5 weeks after me and had 62 days total before status change. I am at day 98!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate em! I guess the huge pile on that desk is getting higher and higher with my info somewhere on the bottom!
Re: "Waiting Room"
I took the class in August and sent in the application. DPS received the application August 28. Check was cashed a week later. Yesterday the website stated that my application had been completed and license issued. 2 things that might have helped speed things along: I mailed the packet in with delivery confirmation. A signature was not required because with a P.O. box it could have been a couple of days before they retrieved it. But they knew that I knew exactly when they received it. Second, it was a re-apply. I had a CHL before but let it expire and be expired for a year (I was living in Alaska, but whatever the situation is in 4 years I won't do that again). So they have already seen my application and approved me before. Maybe those things helped. Then again, maybe I just got lucky and landed on the desk of someone who was not on vacation. So I guess I'll be checking the mailbox carefully the next few days. How long does it take from the time the DPS website updates with "license issued"?
And now if someone could tell me what the deal is with the Wally Walk. I have read the threads I could find and looked at the pictures, but stil don't get it.

Re: "Waiting Room"
You got lucky. DPS has no institutional memory of whether you had a CHL earlier, or any other security clearance that you might have had. People have gone six months on renewals of active licenses.TheRoss wrote:Then again, maybe I just got lucky ...

From the time the web site is updated until you get the plastic in the mail could be zero to two weeks
It just means going out in public and doing things that keep your hands busy. Don't worry about it.And now if someone could tell me what the deal is with the Wally Walk. I have read the threads I could find and looked at the pictures, but stil don't get it.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Yay after 99 days they finally approved my application! Although I did contact 2 state reps, the Lt. Gov and the Gov offices. I heard back from 1 state rep and the Gov office on my delay, both of which I feel got my application through being over 90 days old. I even had a message today on the phone from the DPS telling me I was approved. The state rep's office said my license was mailed out Wed. It is nice to see some elected officials helping you when you ask!
COME ON USPS lol!!!
Later in the day now I had a message from the 2nd state rep (Senator) about wanting more info from me to address the delay. It said they get quite a few calls on this delay, but they try to get those with longer wait times (such as myself) moved up on the list.
So word of advice is contact your reps as it seams to do some good!

Re: "Waiting Room"
Just entered the waiting room a couple of weeks ago and have a question. About how long does it take to get the pin number back from DPS? I didn't do the on-line application.
Thanks
Mike
Thanks

Re: "Waiting Room"
The DPS got my app on July 16th and the letter with my PIN # was dated Aug 8th. From reading other posts, many others who had thier apps recieved around the same time had thier PIN # letters dated the 8th as well.ou20081 wrote:Just entered the waiting room a couple of weeks ago and have a question. Re: "Waiting Room"
This is about day 140 for me. But.....
"Application Completed" !!!
Now now this ol' middle-aged lady has to sit and drool by the mailbox until it actually comes.
Is anyone else kind of overcome about the responsibilities? Not second thoughts, just... "OMG, I hope I never do the wrong thing" kind of thoughts.
