So I call today and Jessica tells me...
That my CHL has been issued today!?!?!? So I try to keep composure on the phone and act like it's no big deal, and so I thank her and wish her a good eve.
And I hang up and check the website and see "Processing Application"
Was she pulling my leg?
too much of a coincidence... don't you think?
I call today, and she basically stopped me on my track telling me "Oh your CHL has been approved today. You should be getting it in the mail in the next 10 days."
So now what?!...
What do you guys think?

Re: So I call today and Jessica tells me...
I think I am gonna call tomorrow. My packet was sent in on Aug. 5th, and I am getting impatient. I have gotten in the habit of checking the site....and getting the dreaded "Processing Application".
it's driving me nuts.

The waiting is so fun
You know what I like about the wait is that we are the good people. The criminals don't go through this process so they went to th pawn shop today and they carry tonight while we walk around unarmed while we wait for the State to muddle through the red tap. You know we all play by the rules that is why we are on this forum. If we end up getting in a bad situation because we are unarmed will the Rick Perry come to our funeral?

Re: So I call today and Jessica tells me...
Mine was just a renewal....I got my original a little over ten years ago. I sent my packet back in Aug 5th or 6th (just first class mail) so they turned it in 45-50 days....not too bad considering some of the horror stories I have read.

Re: So I call today and Jessica tells me...
AMEN!
Actually if they go to the PAWN shop, they will still check their Background.
So instead Ol' gangsta boy goes to the GUN SHOW! To buy someone's used XD Springfield .40.
No background check, no NCIC wait time, no financial record digging by the state no "rejected prints" from CHL, just a handshake and an ID verification from the seller.
I don't know...
To tell you guys the truth, I'm biased; there's a double standard going on here.
While it's really easy to get rid of certain firearms from your collection in order to afford new ones; and try them out.
Is also very easy for someone with mental issues to just go into a gun show and pick up your AR-15 that you are carrying around with a for sale sign strapped to the 18" barrel.
Maybe if the state passed a bill in which only CHL holders would be able to deal. Who knows... I'm just thinking out loud
But yes you are right...

Re: So I call today and Jessica tells me...
In Colorado everyone at the show, including private sellers, has to do the background, CBI sets up a table and I think charges a small fee. That's how they closed the so called 'gun show loophole' after Columbine...never mind that some of the weapons in question were straw purchased.
I like the way we do it here in TX much better. If I don't like the person who's interested in what I'm selling, the price will magically double...that's why I dont carry a sign with the price.
Just my $0.02

Re: So I call today and Jessica tells me...
My status also changed since last weekend and I STILL HAVE NOT received my license. I keep calling home everyday around the time the mailman comes to ask the wifey and still nothing. I told her that once it comes to send it back. Im tored of waiting! Yeah right! Been a long time coming.
This is a right that we have earned. We can do it just like the BG's and buy from gun shows or on the street, but we choose to do it the correct way. In case we ever need to protect ourselves or our loved ones at least we have the option of doing so. Gotta love it!

This is my second renewal, I dropped it off in person at DPS HQ 72 days ago . . . and it's still "processing application."Humanphibian wrote:Mine was just a renewal....I got my original a little over ten years ago. Something isn't kosher down there . . . and the excuses about "increased workload" and "Hurricane Ike" (which missed Travis County entirely) are sounding more lame every day.
Original CHL: 2000: 56 day turnaround
1st renewal, 2004: 34 days
2nd renewal, 2008: 81 days
3rd renewal, 2013: 12 days
