PIN # question
Took class: 7-13-2008
Mailed: 7-15-2008
Signed for in Austin: 7-16-2008
Time for the looong wait!
A question I do have is: How long till I get my "PIN #" so I can "track" the slow process?
Thank you in advance!

Re: PIN # question
No idea. My PIN came in the mail the day before my plastic. I believe someone on this board posted once they got their plastic but never did receive a PIN.Nintao wrote:Took class: 7-13-2008

To be honest, you would be better off if you just forget about the pin#. The DPS tracking site does not help you very much, if any, and I think it just makes the wait harder because you are always checking it!Nintao wrote: A question I do have is: How long till I get my "PIN #" so I can "track" the slow process?

Anyway, with a pin or not, it is going to be a long wait...sorry.

I wish you luck and that all goes well and you have your plastic soon.

Re: PIN # question
Under ideal conditions, the PIN would arrive at about the 30 day mark, and your license would follow at about 30 days beyond that. With the current backlog, there is really no way to tell when it will arrive.
There is really (I feel) too much emphasis put on the PIN. When I received mine, I immediately went online and checked my status. It was quite a letdown to see that it was "Processing". Over the next several days, I checked dozens of times, and never saw any change. After that, I started looking once a day, or even once ever few days. The way things are right now, I would suggest that once your PIN arrives, log in to verify that it works, and that all of your information is correct. After that, don't worry about it. Maybe check once a week to see if anything has changed. Beyond that, you'll just be causing yourself unnecessary frustration.

Re: PIN # question
If you go to the DPS website and click on the "Online Services" there is a link there that you can request your pin. I just received mine. Not happy since I will be checking every couple days or so to no avail! ![rlol "rlol"](./images/smilies/rlol.gif)

Re: PIN # question
That's right, took classes in April, send out the application, got a Pin #, but everything goes slowly. And I have to confess, I check frequently!! How much longer will it take, sigh!!?? ![ToeTap :totap:](./images/smilies/toetap05.gif)

Re: PIN # question
I did receive my Pin# around the 8th of Aug (that is when they issued it), and you are absolutly correct about it being a letdown! The ole "Processing Application" is all I get :(. And of course when I followed up with them via email I got a generic: "Your application is in the final stage of process, please wait alittle longer". If I did my job 1/2 as bad as them....
Sigh... maybe by the State Faire I will have it in hand... MAYBE...

Re: PIN # question
According to MaryAnne whom I spoke with at the DPS. There is a query that your information is punched into and they do that on Tuesdays. If everything checks out okay they issue or request the cards on Thursday. Now this is according to her. I hit day 90 as of today and she said my app is complete and I should be receiving the card within 7-10 days. This was last Thursday when I spoke to her. My status has not changed on the DPS website. Go figure!

Re: PIN # question
When I phoned DPS to send me my packet via snail-mail, the enclosed letter contained my PIN . . . so I got mine quite a while before I actually filed my application.
