The wait begins!!
I just finished my CHL class yesterday and mailed my packet this morning! I took it at Bradshaw Pistol Academy in Bradshaw, TX., about 25 miles south of Abilene. My instructor, Mike Herd, taught us some great things. We watched a video by Jeff Cooper about his color coded levels of alertness, and about mental preparation for a gun fight. Another video we watched by Gabe Suarez, talked about different shooting stances and defense techniques. I had a great time and plan on getting my membership there and doing quite a bit of training. I guess I will just have to wait for a while before carrying bit at least I can Keep my XD in my truck with me. Hopefully I will get to do my " Wally Walk " before the end of the summer

Re: The wait begins!!
Congrats on taking the first step. I get the newsletter from Gabe Suarez. Looks like a very good thing hes got there. Remember to keep your insurance papers and your XD in separate areas in your truck.
Do you have an 01 Powerstroke? I had one, and loved it. Had to get rid of it though after going through three trannies in 60000 miles. My fault. I ran hotshot in it and it was way overloaded all the time.
Welcome to the board. Im currently taking bids on my nice warm broken in chair, as my plastic should be here in a couple days!

Yeah, I have a 2001 powerstroke! Great truck! I have a TS performance 6 position chip in it as well as exaust, tranny, and intake upgrades. I have always heard about the 7.3 tranny's being weak, but I have 189,000 miles on the original tranny. Just got a good one I guess. PS I may need that chair you are trying to get rid of

Re: The wait begins!!
Howdy. Looks like a long wait in store..They should've got my packet by 7 MAR; I called last week and I wasn't even showing up in the system. And I just got a passport 9 days after applying. Maybe the State Dep't. can assist processing applications.

Re: The wait begins!!
If you applied online you already have a PIN, otherwise they will send you a letter. The amount of time it takes can be anywhere from 15 to 90 days from what I understand.

Re: The wait begins!!
I just checked my bank statement and it says that my DPS check cleared on the 7th. I wonder if it would speed things up any if they had to wait until they approved or denied your application until they cashed your check?

Re: The wait begins!!
Nope, sorry.........
The first thing they do is cash the check. Does not matter to them if you are approved or not, they are keeping the money either way.

Don't get too excited....
In fact, it's better NOT to have a pin - because after awhile you will begin to despise the the phrase : "Processing Application"....
and....

Unless you applied online, in which case you first learn to despise the phrase "Packet mailed to applicant".longhorn_92 wrote:2001Stroke wrote:I just recieved my pin today! Processing application!

Re: The wait begins!!
Still processing application so today I got out of my waiting chair and went and bought a new Ruger LCP. Haven't got a chance to shoot it yet, but it feels like a pretty good little pocket gun. I looked a Kel-Tec also and I just like the Ruger better. Anyways, back to my chair!
