Howdy!

I've been watching these forums for a long time. Now I get to post (well, with a good reason to post anyway).

I sent in my completed packet last Friday. So here I sit.

I'm 34 w/m in the Mansfield/Arlington area. Nice to "meet" ya.

First post huh! Well, welcome aboard.

Good to see another (future) CHL is at least in the queue.

Enjoy the good reads on this forum. Tons of stuff to learn and sometimes it's a real hoot to read.

<typical worry>

Anyone know how long it takes from the time you send your packed out, until it stops reading "packet sent to applicant"?? Its been at least a week, and it still shows that. I'm beginning to worry if the post office messed up.

It varies, but in my case over a month before status changed.
That doesn't mean DPS isn't working your application. It can take 3 to 4 weeks for the application to be entered into the system. If your application is not complete, then DPS will send you a letter giving you the details.

Here's my timeline for online status changes -
9/17 Application Requested
9/19 Appication Received w/PIN
9/19 Online Status - Packet Mailed to Applicant
9/20 Application Mailed
9/28 Application Received by DPS per certified mail reciept
10/25 Online Status Change- Application incomplete - missing information - detailed letter has been sent.
11/7 PhotoID card signed by Detective and mailed back to DPS (Had to chase down the Detective)
11/9 Online Status Change - Processing Application
12/18 Online Status Change - Application Completed - license issued or certificate active

Man...

Tick tock tick tock!

Its been 38 days so far...still says "Packet mailed to applicant".

I broke my own protocol, and called the 800 number just to make sure they got the packet (blaming the USPS for botching the delivery)...but after a 20+ minute hold-time, I was redirected to a voicemail system. I didnt leave a message.

After that much time, you should have at least left a message.

Ok...so I called back just now, and only held for 8 minutes this time. Simone answered the phone, and verified that my packet was received, and it still sitting in "pre-screen" queue.

FINE with me!! :) I'm just glad to know they received it, and its processing.

Good times guys.

Will update with updates.

Alright!!!

Status changed to "Processing Application" after only 35 days.

So I wonder...does my "60 days" start now?? Or did it start back when they actually received it?

12/09/2007 "Took Class"
12/12/2007 "Mailed Packet"
12/17/2007 "Packet Received by DPS"

It took over 30 days for my status to change from mailed to processing. Once that change occurred, it was about 58 days until i received my CHL. So the total process was right at 90 days. I was born in Germany, so maybe that delayed it. I don't know, but I had sent in passport, birth certificate, etc. so I kind of doubt it.

Nice to see another Arlington resident on here. :txflag:

Congrats scott_dfw.
Got mine today also. The PIN letter was dated 1/22.
It looks like we are on the same track and will meet at the end of the tunnel soon.
Aside: The new stadium sure is big. Hopefully MBL and the NFL won't schedule games on the same day.
See ya,

Lucky for the Cowboys the Rangers don't ever play October baseball. :grumble
Hopefully the Rangers will be better this year. I already can feel it that they're going all the way cause I'll be in Iraq for the World Series. That would be my luck. :banghead:
