Still Waiting...Let's Chat
Course Completed: 4/20
Application Submitted: 4/20
Fingerprints Sent: 4/22
Cleared Background: 4/27
DPS Website Says Delivered: 5/2
I live about 30 miles away from Austin (assuming it's being mailed from DPS HQ) so hopefully it arrives soon.
What's the wait time been for folks around this late April/early May wait?
Next question -- curious if anyone knows how many LTC holders are here in the State or a percentage of the state are LTC?

I found it! As of 12/31/18 it was 1,362,945 LTC holders in Texas.crazy2medic wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 11:39 amDPS site should be able to answer that last question, last time I looked it up, it was 1.3 millionr_espinoza23 wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 11:31 am Course Completed: 4/20

That's insane. Mostly because our best guesstimate population is 28.7 million people.
Meaning less than 5 percent of Texas population is LTC.
4.75% to be exact.

VERY true! I was actually surprised on how easy and fast the entire process was. For those who are eligible, I don't understand why you wouldn't want to get one?crazy2medic wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 11:51 amTrue but the bad guys will have to guess which part of the 4.75% are packin!r_espinoza23 wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 11:45 amI found it! I was prompted to get one every since my daughter was born. Changed my mindset.

Re: Still Waiting...Let's Chat
What's "insane" about it? There a whole lot more gun owners in Texas than LTC holders. That, to me, sounds pretty normal. Not everybody can pass the background check or cough up the fees for the class or other essentials. What's insane if you ask me, is some states, are writing legislation to jump through the kind of hoops we do for our license, but they would require a background check, finger prints, and a class just for the privilege of gun ownership. I have news for Libs and RINOs, Gun ownership is a right, not a privilege. One can choose to exercise that right or not.

Re: Still Waiting...Let's Chat
I called Texas DPS Regulatory Services today. They informed me that they mailed it on 5/1. I only live 30 miles from Austin which is where it was mailed from.
Has anyone experienced a long wait from the status being changed to mail to actually receiving plastic in hand? Am I just being impatient?

Re: Still Waiting...Let's Chat
I'm assuming that DPS marks them "mailed" when they are printed and mails in batches. Just my guess.

Re: Still Waiting...Let's Chat
Called DPS on 5/31 since I hadn't received my LTC yet. Their systems said that it was mailed on 5/1. They were surprised since I only live half an hour from where it's mailed from.
They informed me to call back in 2 weeks (6/17) if I still hadn't received it.

Re: Still Waiting...Let's Chat
This is weird. I got mine 2 days after the status changed to mailed, and that was last week. Perhaps it got lost?
Re: Still Waiting...Let's Chat

Everything but background check completed 6/6

Re: Still Waiting...Let's Chat
It's official. It came in the mail. 51 days since the start of the whole process. It would have been shorter if USPS didn't lose it the first time.
So 40 days since the DPS website said it was mailed.
Stoked!
