My brother and I submitted everything online on 12/23 and received confirmation email on 12/28. Both of us are still waiting.

I have called three times so far, but have decided to not do that anymore as it achieves nothing.

1) the first person said they have all my stuff and it is still in process- ok that is a start
2) couple of weeks later the person said I was still very much in my 60 "business days" window
3) third lady was super nice, I started out saying "I think I am calling early, but I wanted to check status on my app" (sarcastic but I wanted to see her reaction). She said "sir , you are not calling early- you are over 60 days and have every right to call. We have some people who call days after they apply. I am going to pass your info upstairs because I see no reason why this shouldn't be done or close to it".

Now I don't know what happened after that, I was just happy to hear it- I figured I shouldn't call back and ruin it now.

Just thinking out loud here. Most State agencies are granted three days leave time at Christmas to spend with their Families. Then they also are off at least 1/2 day New a years Eve and all New Years Day. Please take a look at a 2015 calender - figure in they don't work weekends. See those 7-10 days that coincide with a massive uptick in LTC applications were arriving in Austin??

Could be a reason those time periods are delayed. The RSD is going to investigate everything required by law. The upside is if you are qualified you will get your LTC.

i use this same logic when dealing with my plumber, my window guy, bank tellers. You have to look further down the road than your hood ornament.

Thanks for continuing to provide perspective on how we should just patiently wait longer. I'll let you know how your 60 business day theory works out in about 4 days when I hit it.

I dont know how or where the 60 "business" days fallacy keeps getting perpetuated. The CODIFIED statute says 60 days, not 60 business days. Just because they started telling everyone that they have 60 "business" days, it does not make it so. They can only get aways with it to the uninformed. If you submitted in December. and do not have any issues on your bg check...... and still feel like it's been too long.... The only logical recourse you have is to just call your local representative and explain that RSD is not holding up their end of the bargain. I doubt that you personally will get any satisfaction by calling in at this point. You local rep might though.

In any event... let's stop pretending on the 60 business days myth. If it was 60 business days, the law would specify that. Laws are written to be as specific as possible and would NOT leave out that fairly important distinction. You can you can choose to give them a few "extra weeks" prior to calling your rep due to the acknowledged backlog, which is what I intend to do (I'm still a few days short of 60 days - 57 to be exact), but the bottom line is: It's a two-way street; We must pay $$ and supply our "credentials" as to why we qualify and they have 60 days to conduct the requisite bg checks and either 1) issue the license, or 2) notify your that you've been denied or the need more info/clarification. Sure... they are busy, and I'm sure it sucks for them right now, but the bottom line..... that doesn't absolve them of their obligations. Most of us who work for a living that includes deadlines everyday likely FULLY understand this concept.

I should have posted on this forum earlier- I just checked 5 minutes ago and website has changed.

Again I got confirmation email on 12/28 so those in the same time frame check it out.

My submission was complete 1/5. 66 days as of today. I have seen several that were submitted well after mine that have been approved. It sucks, but it sucks worse for you December folks. They'd save a whole lot of taxpayer frustration if their website would give you a real status, or if they would answer an email or answer the phone. The government is the only institution that can totally ignore customer satisfaction.

I have a friend who is unemployed. Spent weeks trying to register for benefits on the TX website, but couldn't get processed. Website said to call. No-one would EVER answer the phone. Finally went to one of the offices, signed up for an appointment. He waited for about an hour to go into a room with two phones, where they had you call the same number listed on the website. The only difference was that phone apparently got priority over calls coming from the outside. As humorous as it is ironic....

Hang in there friends!

This morning I trekked to the mighty peak of Mt. Belvieu and from that lofty perch I scanned the horizon from the Trinity River to the Cedar Bayou. After much dread and trepidation I sacrificed a goat as an offering to a passing DPS patrol car and . . .
