If you live in Tarrant County, I expect this will be a meeting well worth attending.
It's billed as a US Congressional and State Rep Town Hall.

Schedule to attend are:
Mr. Kenny Marchant (US Congressman, TX-24th)
Dr. Michael Burgess (US Congressman, TX-26th)
Mr. Jonathan Stickland (Texas State Rep., District 92 - Hurst, Bedford, Euless, NE Arlington)
Mr. Giovanni Capriglione (Texas State Rep., District 98 - Grapevine, Keller, Colleyville, Haslet)

The opportunity for face time with so many local reps, both Federal and State, at the same time, is a not-to-be-missed opportunity. Not only to ask questions and express opinions to those we've elected to represent us, but to show our representatives we're motivated and stand ready to back them up.

Meeting location is in Southlake at White Chapel Blvd at the intersection with TX-114.
Monday evening, 12-August, 6:30 to 8:30 PM

And in case you're not familiar, the NE Tarrant Tea Party was one of the organizations that was targeted by the IRS for 501(c)4 status.

I've love to go, but I'm already booked up for that evening. Leading worship from 7:00-7:20, and speaking from 7:30-8:00.

Heck of a turn out tonight. I'd guestimate more than 600 in attendance.
Parking lot - Full
Every seat in the chapel - Full
Extra seating (maybe +150 or so) in the large entry hall - Full.
Truly "Standing Room Only"

Even "I" got choked up doing the pledge and singing God Bless America together with a house full of TX Patriots.
Was very nice to see so many people getting fired up enough to participate.

Truly a great opportunity to get caught up on both Federal and State happenings.
Three things stood out for me this evening.... in reverse order....
3. Both State reps did a great job catching us up on the legislative session, and more-so providing insight on how the Conservative block is fighting both the Dems and the establishment Republicans. The politics and inside baseball was very interesting.
2. There seems to be some real hope for successfully defunding Obamacare. Fingers crossed.
1. Both US Congressman said they each believe that the IRS scandals will end up at the White House. I was surprised at both the fact that they felt comfortable making such an accusation (Marchant is on the Ways & Means Committee and the Subcommittee on Oversight) and the confidence with which they said it.

Also in attendance were MANY candidates planning to run for office. We were pressed for time so Barry Smitherman was the only "candidate" given time to speak. He's running for Attorney General to replace Greg Abbott who will be running for Governor. You may recall that Smitherman is the current railroad commissioner. He was also the guy that allowed his government employees to CHL on the job. He also held a CHL class in his offices for 100 employees... I was impressed with his 5 minutes of campaigning.

If you didn't make it, you missed a worthwhile evening.

I would have loved to have been there, and I most likely would have been had I not had other prior commitments. I led worship and spoke at another event.

I didn't go because of a prior engagement but it sounds like a good event.
