I'd love to know how you do it, but after spending 8 years as a Windows admin, there is no way I can recover a server in under an hour. OS installation and patching alone will take well over an hour. Then I'd need to restore all the data. User account creation, server configuration, and all the necessary tedious tasks add up to well over an hour. Same goes with Linux though.

It's just all a matter of personal preference. I find Linux to do everything Windows can do, but with the added benefit of stability.

You goofball! It's called a hardware failure, and every OS is just as susceptible to it as the next. Yes, you made my point about how long the recovery process will take, but not with WHS... So there's the "challenge".

I have been a LInux user for 10 years now. I run internet servers using Redhat and run Fedora for my desktop. Running a home server I wouldn't consider anything except Linux or Apple which is built on a Unix Kernel. Windows is too expensive, too many security issues and just plain too flaky to run a server on. The main advantage with a Linux server is that the Kernel allows the system to remain stable even if some small parts have issues. One of my internet servers hasn't even been rebooted in almost two years and does about 1 terabyte of data a month with millions of hits. You have to love Linux.

I've had to put the project on the back burner. I'm writing bills for the 2009 Texas Legislative Session and trying to keep up with my calendar at the office. I hope to get back on it around the holidays.
