Accurate Arms (AA) Powder

#1

Post by Oldgringo »

:tiphat: Anybody have any reloading and shooting experience with AA No. 2 powder in .380 acp, 9 mm luger, .38 Spec and .45 acp? I've heard it's pretty good stuff. :clapping:

They don't have it at the DQ or the grocery in Rusk. :smilelol5: Where can one buy it - reasonably?

Thanks Y'all,

Greg

I am currently using AA2 and have been using AA5, they both are very good shooting powder. I load mostly for 40S&w and some .380, if you stay in the middle of the load data, you won't go wrong.

I got the powder at Carter's Country at I-10 and Bunker Hill. You should give them a call, it's been a while since I got the powder I think I got it for between $18-20 for the 1lb container.

Thanks. I found some up here in the boonies today for $23 a lb. There's a Gun Show in Tyler on 12/13 and I'll check it out there. In the meantime, I'll keep using the Green Dot and 700-X I have on hand.

I found it last year for $44 for a 4 lb. jug, so I bought it. I've loaded .380 and .45 and both were fine.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

Thanks, from what I gather, Accurate No. 5 is a real good all around pistol powder. Now if I could only find the deal you found, life would be good.

Have you found any 'cheapie' plinkin' bullets :fire to go with the powder?

:cheers2:

I'm starting to think nothing is cheap anymore when it comes to shooting, but Charles put together a bulk purchase over a year ago of these moly-coated bullets. I can't remember what I paid for them, but they were the best deal going at the time (aside from plain lead without a coating, and I'm not into scrubbing my barrel for hours trying to degunk).

I think they're called Precision Bullets. I have also purchased from Berry's Bullets, which are plated bullets, for my .380. I've been happy with these as well, and they were also a good deal.

When we sold our house in Crosby, Mars chunked my reloading bench, promising a new and improved model when we got into the next house. Since his vehicle accident, my new and improved reloading bench hasn't been a top priority. A few days ago, he mentioned that I need to start reloading since Obama may be sticking his grubbly little fingers in our gun powder. Hopefully, Mars will get the trim carpenter out here soon, especially since he sees some urgency.

I really miss seeing multiple bricks squirrelled away in the closet.

I used AA for 45 years ago. I then changed to Titegroup it was so dense I did not notice a case had already been charged and was not paying close enough attention. Double charged one and the next day at the range found which one it was. It turned my Glock into a paperweight and my hand into hamburger meat or the doctor did digging plastic and metal out of it. I went back to AA powders for 45. GLock was real cool about it the sent me another 21 for $285.00. I even told them I double charged the shell. I thought the slide looked ok so I had called them to see if they could check it and replace the frame and barrel. They said send it to us. I think they wanted to make sure it did not get put on display anywhere.
