Nervous--Update
Just finished my first round of making my own ammo. Cast lead myself, deprimed and primed brass, loaded em up.
I am very nervous about going to the range. Is this normal?
I don't want to blow up any guns or my hand.
All loads are mid range +- .1 grain and all precautions that I know have been followed.
What are some things that I should be aware of while shooting?
Tim

Re: Nervous
I STILL remember shooting my first pistol reloads..!!
I made several dummy rounds, took them apart, made more...just for the practice....
I finally got the nerve to put a primer and powder in them and shoot'em...It was a 38 sp round in a 357 pistol. ( I thought that would be safe to start with, a heavy frame pistol )
I even did the "Tree Trick"....Stand behind a tree with the pistol wrapped around the other side in one hand and pulled the trigger with eyes closed..!!!
It all went as per plan...After that, I was HOOKED..!!!
I stand back now and laugh thinking about that.
Follow the book data very close....Pay attention to details, and have fun.
A good powder scale and calipers are your friends.

Re: Nervous
Welcome to the club!
I was nervous about my first set of rounds too.
Well, if you practiced safe bullet making, then all you need to be concerned with is safe shooting.
Have fun!

Welcome to the addiction!
I was a little nervous the first time I pulled the trigger on one of my reloads. Sounds like you have been very careful and I don't expect you'll have any surprises.

Re: Nervous
Thanks for the replies. All safety precautions that I know have been followed. Can't go to go to the range until next week.
I will give a full report when I get back from the range.

Re: Nervous--Update
Just back from the range. Everything went great.
Cast and loaded 9mm and 45 cal, shot many rounds of both with no issues.
Had one FTE but I think I limp wristed as I was very nervous.
I'm hooked now.

Re: Nervous--Update
I shot my first 10 reloads this past weekend. I was nervous as well. Everything went great and I loaded up 50 more this past week. Today I was at a shooting range/store in Weatherford and they had some good prices on their reloading supplies. I grabbed a couple of boxes of small pistol primers for 3.99 a box. It was cheaper than any of the other stores I had been to today.
