I'll wait to see what the full story is before I start speculating:

I'm glad nobody was hurt, but other than that, there is very little data in the article. Was is a prohibited area? Was it not?

Edited to add: Here is a second article with a bit more info.

Glad no one was hurt and a reminder to everyone to be careful with your firearms.

Seems awfully convenient that so quickly after the laws changed somebody went full retard in the dorms.

Local news is pretty much the same: http://theflashtoday.com/2016/09/15/fir ... mu-system/

:banghead:

That's my alma mater. Glad nobody was hurt, but this will likely be used by some anti-2A fools as poster case to argue their "cause".
Dadgummit.

The last link posted cites that the actual report will be released in a couple days. The same article states that as of Dec 2015 UT- Austin could only find four instances of a negligent discharge occurring in the history of campus carry, among the states that allow campus carry.

Must be pretty humbling to be #5 nationwide...

It's a blessing no injuries occurred; hopefully this will cement into everyone's mind proper handling techniques.

And/or add expense and hassle by also requiring the students to provide some sort of safe clearing device, like one of the armored pads or a sand bucket, even though I seriously doubt that would have been relevant to any of the incidents so far.

I thought of you and your meme as soon as I saw the title of the thread. You jinxed us.

Oh well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Just glad no one was injured. Maybe it will make everyone else be a little more careful.

Treat every gun as if it is a loaded gun. Keep finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.

Whatever the mistake was, I bet that he will never make it again!

Remember their are no accidents, only "negligents". Thought you had a car accident...WRONG it was your negligence that caused it so it was a negligent crash not a car accident. Gun discharge, unintentionally...BY DEFINITION negligence. It doesn't matter how it happened, it's always negligence. Don't you DARE abbreviate it AD (accidental discharge), you must call it ND. It's, like, a law or something..... :bigmouth

I don't think any of the dorms in the A&M System schools are prohibited with the exception of some privately owned facilities at A&M Corpus Christi.

The article states the person self-reported the incident :thumbs2:
