Mobil Station Robbed

Lewisville, Tx, oooooooh, just about a block from my place.

So, I'm gassing the ol' Big Red Truckup last night at my local Mobil station. I really like the people there, and their prices are competitive, so I frequent this location.
As I'm finishing, I notice a young male walk up to the side of the store and stand, right next to the payphone.
maybe he's waitin' for a call, right?
anyway, I pull my truck around and put my lights right on him for a good 3-4 seconds, just cause I'm feeling like a ...... After eyeballing him for a min or two, I pull to the other side of the store, park, and wait for a min, as my Spidey Senses are a'tingling. A couple leaves the store, leaving it vacant, save for the 20yr old clerk, a young man I've not known for very long, but very pleasant.
At this time, the foo' enters the store, now wearing a hoodie. When I notice this (I parked too far away to get a good look at him), I pulled my truck up to the front of the store. soon as I did, the GB'er exits the store, and starts running across the parking lot.
when the clerk exits the store, I finally (in my mind) had confirmation that something had gone down and followed the yute into an alley behind the gas station.
mind you, he's on foot, I'm in Big Red, there's a bit of a time gap between us, and I'm not moving too fast. I wanted to tail him to give his location to the fuzz, not rush after and catch him, cause, well, I ain't no copper, see?
anyway, stupid? yeah, prolly. too much adrenaline, coupled with "I knew" something was awry, gosh darnit I wanted to do something!
anyway, I see a cop, flag him down, and he rushes after the dude.
I went back to the store, where there's now, 3-4 cop cruisers, and talked to the clerk. I filed all the requisite paperwork, and talked to the Fuzz for a little while.
The clerk relayed his side, which was the GB'er came in the store, had his hand stuck up his sweatshirt pointing like a gun-barrel. He told the clerk "Don't make me hurt you, just give me the money."
whether he was actually armed or not, I don't know, but I believe is inconsequential.
anyway, the Lewisville PD was very professional, thanked me for doing what I could, and for not trying to overstep my bounds.
I still feel like I could have done more, not for some "hero" complex, but because this guy just messed up that clerk, at least, for a while. He got a couple hunnerd bucks, undeserved, which that store needed.
bleh. :grumble
anyway, so that's my story of the day. enjoy.

Sounds like ya done good. Not easy to do in a stressful environment.

Hopefully I would have enough sense to not let the adrenaline rush overcome common sense if I were in that situation.

BTW....nice truck!

This is where a baseball bat is more appropriate than a handgun.

for the clerk? yeah, that'd do!

naw, as far as I know, they ain't caught him. same guy did the same thing at a joint right down the road (FM 407 and Garden Ridge) so he's obviously not straying too far from home.
he'll get his. for his sake, hope he don't pull that again when I'm IN the store. might get himself all dirtied up....

I have to tell you something...

I was really fooled into thinking you were just about the dullest person in here...No life, no hobbies...

I'm putting you in for a cape now... :smilelol5:

The bat is for you! No truck is complete without one.

Sneak over to the door the robber went in and then clothes-line him with the bat when he leaves.

Very good situational awareness. Too bad the cops didn't get him, but like you said, he'll get his one day.

met with the detectives on Tuesday.
not this boy's first rodeo. be nice if they could get him sorted out before he gets headlong into a life of crime.
AND before he decides to get violent. doubt I (or anyone else) will be able to be so helpful next time.

still wish I'da caught that DB.

and oh, yeah, A Bat in the truck's a great idea! would still be considered Lethal Force, though.

Good job! And that's coming from a perpetual law breaker.

Seriously though, I don't see a problem with at least finding out which direction the guy went. I wish you could have run him over. You know, just to break the truck in right...
