But since it is an ND instead of a justified use of self-defense, I guess she will not have immunity from a civil suit.

CPRC ยง 83.001. CIVIL IMMUNITY. A defendant who uses force or deadly force that is justified under Chapter 9, Penal Code, is immune from civil liability for personal injury or death that results from the defendant's use of force or deadly force, as applicable.

What kind of a pistol was it?

Modern quality pistols don't fire when dropped.

They can if you try to catch it and get a booger hook inside the trigger guard. :tiphat:

I don't know if that's what happened, but it is the most likely scenario.

That's what makes me think the event as reported is inaccurate. Golly, who would have thought? This makes it sound like the evil and dangerous gun was the problem, when in reality it was the dingbat owner.

I guess either her finger hit the trigger or if the gun wasnt in a holster something like a tube of lipstick or bottle could have found its way in the trigger guard.

"Everyone was sitting in the waiting room and there was a gun shot. A woman dropped her purse down on the counter and it shot through the wall and shot another lady," said Pressley.
Above was the eye witness quote from the first article. I'm thinking something else was in the compartment with the gun.
