when I was 11 years old I would ride the city bus from the outskirts of Metairie into New Orleans and back everyday for school - couldn't afford both private tuition and the fee for the school bus.
It was scary back then. Couldn't imagine doing that myself now, much less sending one of my kids.

It would be interesting to see how this case turns out and if the BG has any punishment as a result. It seems to be the consensus that gun charges become an add on to sentences rather than an originating reason for them. This case is obviously different. I would be willing to be that there will be a plea deal and that this guy doesn't see any serious jail time. So much for the deterrent effect.
