At my last photo shoot, I put a 15 round Glock 19 magazine in the camera bag, and at one point it tumbled out when I was taking out some other equipment while the bag was on the ground.

I immediately picked it up and put it back before anyone noticed, but had anyone seen it would it have been considered a brandish?

Intentional? No.
Blatant? Also no.

Perhaps none, but it could possibly "spook" someone enough to make an issue out of it. But then again, some might not even recognize what it was.

Exactly. Seems to me a person could wear a double magazine pouch with 2 mags openly on their belt and still be legal.

No legal offence if a mag shows. You are in good company. Every old hand on the board has had mags on the floor somewhere at sometime. My 1st mag pouch was a cell phone case. $$$s were precious then as now. Mine went on the floor at Lowe's. Absolutely the ONLY thing you need to fret is how your photo customers would respond.

Say for example someone saw you filling a speed loader.

With enough mags and mag carriers, I suppose one could make a "mag belt" a belt completely covered with loaded magazines ... (belt/mags/ammo open carried .... just not the handgun which must be concealed)

Same for loose rounds too. Nothing illegal about loading a speed loader. Above pic is also legal by the letter of the law. Over time I have reached for change in my pocket to find a live round amongst my few pennies. Never wore a belt like above. I can see where the above belt or publicly loading a speed loader or mag either one would cause a visit along w/ Q's from & A's to LEOs in Harris, Montgomery, Travis counties.
I will say that if I saw a man publicly loading a mag, speed loader I would observe a few seconds. Criminals are not known for good form. Atire, other behavior would tell a lot. I wont recomend the Mall fountain area for the best place to load but still not illegal.

Magazine? I didn't see no stinkin' magazine. It was just some sort of camera doo dad. I wish I had a magazine to read.

Falling out of a camera bag the average Joe will think it's some sort of photo accessory.

I left a magazine and its carrier on the floor of a coffee shop. Got all the way home and discovered it missing, called the shop and told the guy "I think I might have left something....er.....unusual on the floor behind where I was sitting." He said, "I've got it. Just come and get it."

I drove right back (just a few blocks from my house) and walked up to the counter with a sheepish grin on my face. Didn't have to say anything....the guy grinned back and handed me the mag carrier with the mag in it.

That guy works in the local Apple store now. I chatted him up once when I was in there and reminded him of it. He said that a customer had found it on the floor and turned it in to him. Not more than 15 minutes had passed between when I dropped it and when I retrieved it. I don't know how many other people in there that day saw what happened or knew anything about it—I a semi-regular patron—but nobody ever gives me weird looks or anything when I walk in.

I suspect that you could probably have dropped your gun and nobody would have noticed it. It would have just registered as "stuff" from your camera bag if they saw it at all. Most people just aren't that aware.

And most CHL's, especially newer ones like me, tend to be hyper-aware of such things.

Yeah, you're right. I was certainly freaked out when it happened to me. I had probably had my CHL not more than 6 months when that happened to me. But as you continue to carry every day and get used to the idea of it, it becomes second nature and you sort of stop worrying about what other people think about it.....because you discover that they just don't think about it at all. They are in Condition White.

At somebody's suggestion on this board, I started carrying my spare mag in an inexpensive belt knife sheath with a velcro flap. Its exposed on my belt for all to see - but you can't see that it is a magazine. Never a problem and the mag stays in place because the flap is velcro'd over the top. This works for a 1911 mag, but a double stack magazine may not fit.
