Fortunately for all involved, Rule 1 was being observed at the time of this incident.

This wasn't a Remington 700 by chance was it?

I was there last weekend. Busy place. I was glad I had read this forum first and knew not to park in the parking garage, but rather the parkinglot as CCWs are not allowed on the boardwalk.

More to the story surley about the counter checking the firearm, I have personally carried firearms in to Gander and Bass Pro and never once were they checked by anyone, just today a friend and I went to Gander to a have a new Leupold but on his rifle and the front (service desk) checked nothing, I mean absolutely nothing about the weapon?

Only 2 comments on this story:
1. I agree with the person that responded to the article, "why wasn't there a clearing barrell?"
2. Stoooopid action that hurts the gun community. 48yo man needs to be spanked and then
sent to take a remedial gun safety course. I'm just glad no one was injured.

The gun was taken to the counter where guns are routinely checked before they are brought into the store. The clerk checked the rifle and noticed nothing in the chamber but had trouble putting the bolt back in, Natale said.

Time for a little review on how to check a firearm...maybe a little show and tell on what a 7mm Mag round looks like? ;-)

I agree with the need for a clearing barrel. I had to use one every time I reentered the FOB overseas. They come in handy.
