Adrenaline does strange things. The FBI Shootout in Miami, Florida suspects were shot many times with fatal wounds and kept fighting. I had been on LE for four years when this happened and it changed everything we did.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1986_FBI_Miami_shootout
Michael Platt: Ruger Mini-14 .223 Remington semi-automatic rifle with folding stock, at least 42 rounds fired, S&W M586 .357 Magnum revolver, three rounds fired, Dan Wesson .357 Magnum revolver, three rounds fired. Killed after being shot 12 times.

Went into a BBQ place without a mask. Kid behind the counter asked about his mask, said he had an exemption. Then showed him his gun.

Restaurant I know of spends $2000 handing out masks to people who arrive without one.
It's possible that the guy with the guy (mistakenly?) believed that he couldn't legally wear a mask while carrying a gun, like the person in Crazy Medic's post. If that's the case, then his actions seem reasonable. He first informs the worker that he is not allowed to wear a mask / has an exemption, but does not reveal his gun. Then the worker specifically asks the man to "show it to me" and he presumably pulls up his shirt / jacket to reveal his gun.

I have no idea if Kansas has a law on the books about not wearing a mask while you are carrying a gun, but I could see how such a law would make sense (in normal times). Like some state's laws on not wearing a mask while engaging in a protest, etc.

The kid's statement of "I ask him to wear a mask and now he's going to shoot me", is either complete overreaction, or an extreme case of gun phobia. This of course assumes that the guy just showed him the gun, as the kid asked, and didn't draw it, etc.

I had not thought of that. It could be you are right. I may have judged too quickly.

It still would have been smarter for the guy to just tell the kid that he had a lawfully carried gun and the law did not allow him to wear a mask while armed (if that's what he thought), rather than actually showing him a gun. So his move definitely wasn't the best. It just might not have been as crazy as it initially appears.

Asked to wear a mask in a convenience store, refused service, so he stabbed a 77 year old man.

Police stopped his car, and he got out with his knife in his hand. Female officer made it so he never has to worry about masks again.
Attorney Andrew Branca reviewed the legal issues of this incident. The video will be available on Facebook for a day or so. Look for the After Action Analysis Live Wednesday 2pm ET.
