Kind of like Pearl Harbor. By the time I was born, 17 years had passed. My generation didn't really think of the Japs as evil. The generation before mine did. The big difference is that the Japanese became civilized. Islam is still all about hate and death to the infidel. Islam wants to force the rest of the world to live as they do, like animals.
