Edit: That was not the story I read earlier. That's so much worse.

Re: Man killed at Hot Wells in Cypress
"Investigators say an employee of the gun range was working on a hunting rifle when it suddenly went off.
At the same time, a customer had just gotten out of his car and was walking toward the building when he was hit."
Oh boy. Talk about awful luck.

Oh man, that's like some Final Destination stuff. So much wrong had to happen for such an unfortunate mistake.

OH hell, that's a really bad turn. The story I read earlier did not have those details.
That's awful.

I unload firearms before working on them but I'm not a professional so maybe I'm doing it wrong.
God, grant me serenity to accept the things I can't change
Courage to change the things I can
And the firepower to make a difference.

They do offer cleaning services, for that matter so do I. I just can't imagine. Terrible for that all involved.

Neglect or ignore the basics and this happens. Prayers for the victim's family.
Please know and follow the rules of firearms safety.

Proper safety steps when cleaning a firearm.
A. Throughout the process follow Col Cooper's 4 rules
B. Unload the gun before working on it
C. It's still unloaded
D. Refer to C

Just heard the person in the parking lot was struck in the head 55 yards away and has died. Unthinkable....

Really very sad for everyone.
I wish we knew more about working on a rifle with one in the chamber.
We can't stress enough, keeping the barrel pointed in a safe direction, especially with a rifle, indoors or not.

They also do a gun sighting service there. Early reports. I imagine future law suits will reveal the backstory.

Sad for the victim. Angry at the employee.
