I guess to me, racist means that I have a problem with what color a person is, not where they come from or what kind of music they're blasting. I have no problem with a person's creed, color, background, etc. I only mention specifics because of the current problems going on in Dallas. And yes, illegal aliens are a BIG part of the problem. That's why people like me, that actually try to improve the area, leave and go somewhere where you don't have to deal with it.

Yeah, their yuppies keep ending up in my city. Actually, they end up in the fringes/suburbs, dictating what goes on in the interior of the city, to the detriment of those of us who live here. I wish they would stop.

Worse, they keep trying to dictate that the state seize good NE Texas farming and hunting land to build a lake, so they can water their lawns and wash their Beemers.

I've noticed that the yuppies go into these small towns like Frisco and then take over. So what was formerly the countryside is now one huge mini-mall. I think you can blame the developers for that. The flip side is that then your land becomes more valuable. You can always sell and move out even further. I'd love to have some acreage in the hill country. Parts of that are being developed, but not like N. Texas.

Wouldn't you call that robbery?

Really? So someone walks up to you during the middle of the day and says they are going to take your truck as you are gassing up, and you see no weapon, you are gonna shoot?

I am curious as to your legal justification for that.

When I was young man and I had moved away from home I shared the rent on a house with a guy older then me he was going through a divorce and he had a date the second night I was in the house.
I had noticed a starter pistol on the end table the night before so about 10PM I thought I heard a noise from the back yard so I turned off the light in the living room and picked up the starter gun and walked to the side door and out onto the drive way.
I made my way to the back breeze way to the back yard and peeked around the corner and sure enough a guy is kneeling down looking in the window, I said who you looking for and he jumped about 10 feet into the air and was shacking like I had just scared 10 years off his life.
He looked at me and said who are you about the same time he saw the pistol in my hand and started talking about my room mate saying he was just looking for him. I said you have a strange way of looking for people and could get hurt with his method of trying to find him, I then asked him if he had jumped over our 6 foot stockade fence in the back and he said yes thats how I got in here.
I smiled at him as he was watching my hand with the starter pistol in it in the dark I started raising my hand at the same time said you have three seconds to get back over that fence before something bad happens to you!

I didn't finish saying it before he had leaped and fell over the back stockade fence and ran away as fast as he could run!

I told my room mate about it and described the guy to him as he was laughing his rear off and says that was great it was his ex-wifes boyfriend trying to spy on him.

That guy in the back yard scared me as much as I scared him but he didn't know the gun was not real so I had a small advantage on him.

Man that guy can run fast!!

This happened many years ago back in the late 70's.

My Dad and I were up in East Texas getting his property ready for deer season. Some local fellows and their girl friends parked up a hill from us and started partying. We could hear music and most of the conversations. We drove past them twice going to town which required them to move as they had blocked our gate.

Later they started shooting pistols at cans and bottles. We heard some ricochets and yelled to them that people were back here and to stop shooting. They just laughed and shot more rounds in our direction and actually hit limbs above our heads. (I can still hear the bullets to this day)
My Dad had me get my AR-15 while he got his 870 riot gun with 7 shot extension. We took up position behind our truck and commenced firing upon their location (from which pistol shots had never stopped comming in our direction) I fired two 30 shot clips and he fired 8 loads of baby mag #1 buck shot. As I was loading the 3rd clip they left in a big hurry. We latter found broken car glass on the road. Called the Sherrif and he took a report.

The car was protected by the top of an embankment as well as the scums. We suspect they shot out their own window.

They never came back.

This happened a few years ago...not exactly a CHL story but...

I bought a house in Spring, TX around 6/2000. In 2002, the next door heighbor that had been renting the house moved out, and the owner was unable to sell it. So she rented it to her niece and her niece's sleaze-bag boyfriend, who were "playing house". Niece and Sleazebag were former apt-dwellers who took the newfound digs as an opportunity to party every night. As loudly as they could.

After I (and I'm sure other neighbors) called the cops about the noise a time or two, it came to a head one night.

They were in the middle of another large, albeit somewhat more quiet party, when a fight broke out amonst their guests regarding a girl.

Its ALWAYS about a girl... or money...but I digress.

Well, this interesting diatribe broke into fisticuffs, and spilled over onto MY LAWN.

That. Was. It.

I grabbed my Maverick 88 and went outside. Amidst the cheering and shouting and fighting, I racked the slide.

As Kenny Rogers once sang, "the night got deathly quiet..."

Those of you who say that racking the slide on a 12 gauge won't scare the pants off someone, let me tell you... oh yes it will. It scared the crap out of 20 or so drunken 20-somethings.

I pointed the shotgun at said rowdy crowd and informed them that the party was over, and the next bastard who brought his crap onto my property was leaving in a bodybag.

Its amazing how polite people get when they're looking down the barrel of a shotgun. The fight was over immediately, the crowd dispersed and there were many apologies, and everyone went home.

And never came back.

Neice has since broken up with Sleazbag and has taken up with a nice, hard working guy. No more loud parties, or problems with idiots.

And I have heard some of the neighbors call me "that crazy shotgun guy". But they leave me alone, and the neighborhood is quiet.

And thats fine with me.

About six or seven years ago while living in Long Island, NY the neighborhood I had lived in for 25 years or so started to take a sharp turn for the worse. I am talking about drug dealers actually standing on MY property, leaning against my truck parked in the driveway offering drugs for sale. Calls to the local police had a 30 min to one hour response time and usually by the time they got there the druggies would wander of down the street. After one episode I found drugs stuffed behind the license plate on my truck! One night I finally snapped, took my black Lab and a twelve gauge Mossberg and went out to confront them. I figured if they were unarmed the dog would handle things, if they showed any kind of a weapon the shotgun would come into play. Druggies took off down the street with one of them missing part of his britches. Didn't solve the problem totally, but it moved it a couple of blocks down the road until I was finally able to sell the place and move down herea couple of years later.

That was a real fun place to live - for entertainment you could sit on the porch and watch the drug dealers go by! I do have to say that in all time I lived there we never had a break in or theft from our house; mostly the result of always having at least two large and VERY protective dogs. (and if someone bothered the dogs my wife was also not reluctant to go outside with the 12 Ga. All this and we got to pay over $11,000 in taxes as well. You'all who have never lived in NY don't know what your missing!

This is in no way a CHL story, and perhaps not even a self-defense story, but certainly along the same lines.

I used to work night shift at a prison out in the boonies. When I say boonies, I mean it. My neighbors had chickens. Jbirds knows the place. He and I used to be roommates there, but this was after he moved out.

So about 3pm I get rattled awake by a VERY loud booming sound. Scared me senseless in one of those “jumped out of bed landing feet first ready for a fight kind of situations. I heard it boom 3 times. I thought maybe at first someone had hit the trailer with a car or something.

I grabbed the 380 I had on the side table to the bed and headed toward the front door in about 3 good strides.

I should mention at this point that I sleep in the buff. So there I am, prancing toward the door, completely naked, and not really realizing I'm naked. Gun in hand.

The booming had stopped momentarily, but as soon as I got to the door I jump back as the booming has started again and now I can see that my entire front door is shaking. Not like someone’s knocking on it, but like someone is trying to take it down with a sledge hammer.

There are three more hits to the door and then I hear someone yell, HEY! ANYONE HOME?!

About that time a wave of straight up rage washes over me. I'm not an angry person, but who dares wake me up like that. Everyone I know knows that I work the night shift and who the heck is trying to break down the door?

I walk over, fling the door open and squarely point the 380 directly at the nose of a very meaty guy standing on my porch and say very aggressively, “WHAT THE (deleted) DO YOU WANT AND WHAT THE (DELETED) DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING TO MY DOOR?

I stand there staring him down for a moment and after a few moments of silence I realize he’s just stunned speechless, looking at the gun and then looking me up and down, naked, and then looking back at the gun and then looking me up and down again…. Not sure what to say.

After a moment I realize there’s something odd about this guy. It doesn’t quite fit in. What could it be?

Well, my astute powers of observation kick in and I realize he’s got a big red fireman’s hat on and he’s wearing big yellow fireman’s suspenders and pants.

So I say to him… ummm, what are you doing?

He says… “there’s a brush fire heading this way… we’re warning all the neighbors.

So I said, “oh, ok… thanks.

He walked off.

I closed the door.

Then I went outside and watered down my lawn and my neighbor’s lawn. Of course, I put some clothes on first.
