Genuine Mags or aftermarket?

I'm buying some new mags for my Ruger Mark II 22/25.

To all the wise ones out there: is there REALLY a benefit to buying genuine Ruger parts vs. aftermarket mags such as MecGar?

At nearly half the price, I'm finding it hard to buy the Ruger brand parts, unless someone here has a better suggestion based on personal experience.

Some do, some don't matter. The only way to know for certain is to try the magazine with the pistol and see what it does. I owned one of these a few years ago(several actually) and it did not care. I have a Kimber 45 that likes wilson combat better than factory. I have also purchased cheap magazines for my AK47 that were awful. This holds true in many of my firearms which is why I say, some do and some don't matter. Buy the cheap magazine and see what it does. I bet it works just fine in that particular handgun.

FWIW: Years ago when I was into Bullseye completion I used only COLT and S&W mags for match shooting and "brand X" for practice or plinking. Might work for you.

:iagree:
I bought 4 cheap plastic mags for my mark 2 probably 25 years ago. After thousands of rounds they are finally cracking. Got my money worth. I bought 4 off brand Glock magazines for my ruger carbine and they are running just fine.

I avoid promag, and I know others that have had issues with promag products! Mecgar makes good mags

Quality third party magazines can be as good or better than "genuine" magazines. Mecgar and Magpul come to mind.
