Compact 45 for concealment

Went to the range this morning with a friend and shot is 45 XD model. I actually shot his weapon better than my own guns. Just wondering is their anyone out there that carry's a 45 compact or one that can be concealed that is not a glock or 1911. I love my CZ's I just wish they made a 45 in the concealment range. Just looking for some other options and it's always better to have more like GEICO.

My compact .45 consist of a Dan Wesson ECO 1911 that I don't carry anymore and a S&W Shield .45 which I really like. Neither of these pistol have much recoil at all.

Thanks for reply, will look at S&W for sure, Not really a fan of the 1911 though. Maybe I just need some shooting time with one.

I carry the xds45.

Light weight. Bullet goes where I aim. 6 in the gun, 7 in the backup mag and I don't feel outgunned.

Cons
1. The grip is very aggressive. Not for sensitive hands.
2. My, and a lot of other owners on their forum, 7 round mags took awhile to break in. It would basically misfeed a round every time i used it. I trust it now but I was worried for awhile. I think if you know that going in, it is easier to be patient. It probably took 2-300 rounds to break in. I've shot thousands through it and don't remember any incidents in a long time.

I thought the short barrel 1911 were hard to control (at least that's what I've always heard) that's why I never gave them much thought. Maybe I will give it a go. I think my range has that one in the try before you buy group. Thanks

If considering Glocks, check out the G36. With a Pierce grip it's got 7+1 capacity and is still concealeable. Shares some holsters with G19 as they're almost identical in size.

+1 on the shield. I wouldn't personally carry a .45 subcompact, since 9mm are a bit smaller in every aspect for better concealment, but if I do, it'd be an m&p shield. But before you go out buy one after randomly picking a post in this thread, I recommend you go to a range and rent a bunch. When it comes down to it, it's all personal preference at this point.

For actually carrying, I switch out between my officer-size 1911 Colt Defender and STI Escort. Shooting either of those takes me to a happy place, too.

I've never heard of the STI Escort know about STI though. I'm pretty sure that model cost as much as a used car. I wish I could afford one.

The STI Escort is pretty much identical to the Colt Defender. I had the Escort first, and that's one of the reasons I decided on buying the Colt later, because it was identical to my other carry gun (I'm pretty paranoid about consistency in my carry guns!).

Yep, the STI was way more than I had ever spent on any gun before, but I decided at the time that I deserved (wanted ) the very best of something!

The Colt is a fine gun. But the Escort is just somehow "smoother" operating. I'm happy with both.
