Yep, they got it too...

I'm slightly taken back by this news...Obviously I think authorities are wrong to throw the net so far and wide on this issue...

Of course the ACLU will be all over this...Not...

And the gun-grabber websites are having collective goosebumps as well at this wonderful news...

Okay, NRA et al, time to get working on this.

I believe I would have to decline this and barricade myself in my home. Where I go, my firearms go.

Police and soldiers also seized numerous guns for fear of confrontations with jittery residents who have armed themselves against looters.

"No one will be able to be armed. We are going to take all the weapons," Riley said.

On Thursday, in the city's well-to-do Lower Garden District, a neighborhood with many antebellum mansions, members of the Oklahoma National Guard seized weapons from the inhabitants of one home. Those who were armed were handcuffed and briefly detained before being let go.

"Walking up and down these streets, you don't want to think about the stuff that you're going to have to do, if somebody's pops out around a corner," said one of the Guardsmen, Chris Montgomery.

I wonder how big a stink would be raised if the media's cameras were confiscated.

Seems like this is a state issue right now. It started with the NOPD and the National Guard seems to have joined in on the fun. The Guard is under control of the Governor so it is the state and the city doing the confiscating. The feds seem to be just watching. My fear is that this will become a justification for future confiscations.

From what I see, they have no legal right to confiscate firearms. Contrary to popular belief, the city is NOT under martial law. And the mayor and the state governor does NOT have the ability to declare martial law. So with that said, how are they LEGALLY seizing guns? I think it is unconstitutional and illegal.

Of course I can't think of any other natural or un-natural disaster that has happened in the country where this action by the government (at whatever level) was implemented...

What I don't understand is the governments tendency to busts balls on this issue...

Just ask the people to leave, present them with the mechanism to do so, boat, truck, whatever...Let them take a bag, their gun, their pets...

And friggin move on...What is so difficult about that???

Start trusting us, or the next door you knock on might be a little to much over the top for someone...and they'd be in the right in whatever they do!!!

I don't know anymore (thats not entirely true), I do think things will get back to some sense of normalcy, but sometimes the envelope gets pushed a bit too far sometimes...

They keep pushing and pushing, and at some point you're going to back a section of population into a corner, and now where for them to retreat to, and then you risk it blowing up right in your face...

And everyone pays for it...

I'm expecting a knock on my door soon...geesh...You just kinda feel it sometimes I suppose...

And its not about the guns anymore...

I wanted to make sure no Texas guardsmen were taking part in this so I emailed the governor.
Does anyone have information as to who is taking the guns? I've seen reports that say both 'police' and 'national guardsmen'.
Dear Governor Perry,

I am deeply disturbed to hear news reports of National Guard troops disarming law abiding citizens in New Orleans. I wanted to register my extreme disapproval of the situation and to get your assurance that no Texas Guardsman are being used in what is my opinion to be an illegal violation of Louisiana citizen's constitutional rights.
I have always appreciated your pro-2nd amendment stance, so I'm anticipating that you reacted to the news in a similar fashion and have taken steps to remove our troops before they are used in a blatantly illegal gun confiscation.
Looking forward to your response,

Tehlump

I found this:

"On Thursday, in the city's well-to-do Lower Garden District, a neighborhood with many antebellum mansions, members of the Oklahoma National Guard seized weapons from the inhabitants of one home. Those who were armed were handcuffed and briefly detained before being let go."

From this article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050909/ap_ ... ne_katrina

The sad part is that the Garden District (I have an Aunt who lives there) was high and dry with no damage or looting. My Aunt had received that word about her house and the surrounding area from a local fireman. Now the NOPD (and I guess the National Guard) is going around breaking down the doors and confiscating weapons. They are doing more damage to the area than what was already done. More damage both physically, and constitutionally. Go figure.

What else is a bit disturbing is that I have yet to see anything on the news about this...

I don't expect to see this on the alphabet networks, but not to see it on FoxNews...

Or even worse, not to hear about it on Rush, Hannity, or any of the local conservative talk radio shows...

I could guess Savage would be saying something about it (later) just to rile everyone up about it...

Who knows...Except what we have seen sparsely protrayed, and in a way to make these holdouts to be criminals or mentally unstable for holding their ground and for having, ahhhhh gasp! Guns!!!

This is really not a very good thing to be happening to these people, and to our country at this time...

I do not like the direction this is going in...

But who the hell am I to say anything about it...

This will all blow over, everyone will forget about it, and when something like this happens again, this activity will be that much more accepted...

I'm glad its the weekend...I need to cool off...I never thought it would get this bad...

Me too...

I couldn't get the video to work...But I did get the audio...And if you could think of a worse senario to be in...You're better than me...

I have to tell ya...The first one that gets killed because of this illegal order...

All bets are off in the future...I can't think of a way to compel this activity to stop...

If the people don't want to leave, don't disarm them!!! They are not the problem, the real problem is and always was the people who have been giving instructions and orders like this...

Now the people who were assaulted, detained and disarmed have no means to protect themselve in any way shape or form...

But then again that works for these freaks making these decisions!!! They get the people out...So then what are those people to do??? Leave??? I guess so...

They want a precident...They just started one...

If you boys think this will blow over, wait till the next time. Not meaning to sound like a moron, but there will be a next time, and it will be soon.

I did email Fox News.

Haven't heard anything yet.

Don't expect to.

From my cold, dead hands.
