Just curious if anyone regularly carries a Bond Arms derringer either as a daily carry, or in other situations? I do not, but have been considering getting one with a BAD holster specifically for driving carry. (And perhaps as a quick, "grab-and-go" weapon for short trips to town, and such.)

Love to hear anyone's experiences with their Bond.

I have the Rustic Ranger that Cabela's sells in the BAD holster. I love it. It's kind of like in A Christmas Story when Ralphie describes the leg lamp as electric sex. And, putting 45 Long Colt through it is a blast.

But... I don't carry it. I have no problem with it as a BUG but the Ranger is a big gun for only 2 rounds. I do have carry ammo for it. Did quite a bit of online research for ballistics and settled on the Federal Premium .410 5 pellet 000 Buck. My own experience with those shells through the 4.25" barrel have me confident in it's ability. In close quarters, one-on-one, it would put pellets on-target without spreading and stop the threat. With the seeming trend of more than one bad guy, I would rather have 15+1 in my G19 and 17 more on-call.

But for the range, or out stomping around, I love Bond Arms. They look both tank-tough and absolutely gorgeous, all at the same time. I consider my own a fine firearm to be admired and enjoyed more than a go-to defensive tool.

I too own the Rustic Ranger. I bought the .38/.357 barrel for it. I only carry it in the BAD holster when we are traveling. The BAD holster is a cross draw rig. If a bad person tries to carjack me, I can get to the RR much more easily than I can my Mod 2 subcompact that is IWB at the 4:00 position underneath the seatbelt.

I don't carry it full time for the exact reasons you presented, that it is a big gun and it only has 2 rounds.

A clip on crossdraw rig for the Mod 2 might be an even better solution for those car trips.

Don't know if I qualify to give a reply since you specified the Bond . I have a different brand 38 special stack barrel (same as Bond)I have pocket carried many times . Disadvantages are accuracy and two round capacity . Up close yea....at a distance no ..

I have a Bond Arms Texas Defender model. It is a lot of fun and built like a tank and is a great conversation piece at the range. The accuracy is reasonable and I would think that if I ever had to point it at a threat, looking down those two big barrels would make a man's bad intentions fade.

That being said, it is quite heavy, is only two shots and is single action. The hammer spring is heavy and takes a fair amount effort to cock it. While the cool factor is undeniable, I think that there are more practical choices for carry/defense. My XDs weighs nearly the same as my Bond Arms but has 8 rounds, fires faster and more accurately, and reloads much quicker.
