Also good for new to carry to learn what NOT TO DO to give away carry or position.

I guess I'm guilty of the "adjustment" thang. Unless I'm wearing a shoulder rig I always have to "adjust" when I get out of my truck. But I try to stand inside the door and I look around to see if I have an audience or not.
Good point about the short stride and arm swing. As far as I'm aware I don't do that but next time I'm out I'll check myself and see.
I remember when I first started carrying I felt like I was walking around nekkid wearing only my gun.
I soon learned that nobody notices much about anybody else. I'm pretty careful not to print and I try to be ultra discrete but I long ago got over being selfconscious. I guess it comes with experience you eventually get used to it and seldom think of it through out the day.

I was just going to post, I do the same thing with my Blackberry on my belt. It lies between the zipper and my front right pocket almost all the time. Although it is usually securely fastened to my belt, I've had it come off a time or two. It has become a habit to walk with my hand over it to protect it especially if I'm walking fast or squeezing between people - just to make sure it doesn't pull off.propellerhead wrote:People who carry PDAs and cell phones on their belts do some of that too. Funny thing ... when I was taking my CHL class, I was fidgeting in my seat and put my hand over my blackberry (to make sure it was still there) and the LEO conducting the class flashed his eyes BIG in my direction. He never lost pace with what he was saying and no one but my husband and I noticed what he had done at the time. He certainly noticed the movement I made! That was kind of freaky scarey. To think something as innocent as checking my pda would get that kind of reaction!

I agree that this is very good information for helping us keep from "displaying" our weapon to those that are looking for it.
"Sheeple", or a "Reasonable Person", is not going to notice a thing. As mentioned, people do this with their PDA all the time. It has become a status symbol to have some sort of electronic device on your belt. That, of course, means that it would most likely be on display, but it really makes no difference. What civilians, other than CHLers pay attention to those around them?
With that said, I still agree that avoiding the movements/actions in this post is a good idea. BG's are not necessarily "Sheeple", and are most definitely not a "Reasonable Person".
