Guys, standing in front of a hospital. Not for sure so leaving CCW in truck.

I was thinking but being a newb I wanted to be sure.

There is no 30.06 sign nor anyone handing out 30.06 notice cards.

So in this case it is legal right?

Hospitals in Texas DO have to post 30.06 to prohibit concealed carry. Just look for the signs extra carefully, because getting caught carrying in a posted hospital carries a much greater penalty than on other posted private property.

Why is that? I never heard of there being a differential penalty. Yesterday I went into a hospital I frequent, they had a single old 30.06 sign technically no longer valid and no 30.07. I didn't tell them anything about their signs.

Well from my understanding the 30.06 sign is still valid, but now you have to post both signs. If someone who likes to open carry goes into a place with a 30.07 sign, then simply they would conceal and it would still be okay. If both sign are present then they would have to leave their weapon in the car holster.

As far as hospitals, every time i've gone in one I've seen both signs.

OK thank you. Yes I did see where hospital is a class A offense but in this case the entrance has no signs on it much less a 30.06.

I do believe that it's not "off limits" to carrying. What you are saying is correct, if they don't want guns they have to have both signs posted. There's a hospital my son was just in recently, only stated that the unlicensed carry of a firearm would result in fine/jail time. So if I wanted I could walk in with a gun as long as I'm licensed to carry.

Look at 46.035, it's a class A misdemeanor.

In addition, if the hospital is part of a university (higher education), then carry is off-limits even without a sign. Also a VA hospital is off-limits as federal property. Be very careful to insure you know what you're getting into.

I do know two hospitals which have no signs, and one which has an outdated 30.06 sign.
Since I have to go to 30.06 30.07 posted hospitals almost weekly, that's why I got the Kel Tec Sub 2000 folding rifle I conceal carry in hospitals.. It does not violate 30.06 NOR 46.035 and uses the same mags of the handgun I cannot legally carry concealed inside. Yes, anyone could carry a concealed rifle, licensed or not, but the weight is less comfortable or more trouble. So, I can ignore said signs and not have to look for them at such places when they force me to leave my concealed handgun outside and conceal carry my rifle inside instead.
