Guns and Shooting in local newspaper

Hello all.
I just recently moved from Cleveland Texas to Centerville Texas which is halfway between Houston and Dallas on I-45. I picked up the local paper and was surprised to see an article on gun news. It talked about the NRA,what was happening in D.C., and some other news. I thought this was neat since I cant remember any news reports like this in the other local papers, or the Houston paper.
Then I turn a couple of pages and they have a listing of school news, and it has listed the kids in the small, light and target gun catagories in the junior and senior class. I am not sure if this is senior class in high school, or senior class in the gun class.
It was really neat to see "guns" in the news.
Take care

Doesn't surprise me a bit...

The focus in small town, and rural America really contrasts with big city sprawl...

The attitudes, perceptions and maturity at almost all levels of rural society are leaps and bounds over most in big cities...

To validate this opinion, you only need to look at the "county" breakdown map of the last general election...Where's the "Red" vote, and where's the "Blue" vote...

One day, I hope to be able to shake the bonds of urban strife, and move to a place into the "piney woods" of northeast Texas, and live the rest of my life, and die peacefully by the shores of a calm, serene lake I was fishing at...

I have the spot already picked out...

Nice, Steve. Mine is the Hill Country - Kerr County. Too much humidity in the piney woods.

Well, I can't be too choosy...I got 800 acres, two 10 acre private lakes and more bull-nettle than I care for to look forward to...

Go download Google Earth (if you got broadband internet) and I'll give you the Lat and Long to go check it out...

Sounds like a real nice place to live.

If I ever get to retire, we have a place east of Nacogdoches. It is a bit over 300 acres with a couple of real nice creeks, a house on top of a hill, and complete peace.

Crud...I thought I would be able to transpose the Lat and Long here...echhhh...

Find Quitman, Texas in "Terraserver" or "Google Earth"...

Go about 5 miles east of town, and look for "Lake Lydia"...Our "stuff" is most of the area north, west and southwest of that lake behind most of the lake lots...

You'll see the two smaller lakes to the northwest of Lake Lydia...Those are ours...Big bass in them thar lakes!

The long, narrow clearing running north south in the same area is my Dad's "private" driving range...

Enjoy...
