Do you carry spare magazines?

#1

Post by mrvmax »

I always do, normally two extra. I started carrying a G29 (I love 10mm) and normally I carry two spare mags for my G20 with the 29. That gives me 41 rounds of 10mm ammo for my EDC. I will carry one more mag if I happen to be wearing cargo shorts since I can drop an extra mag in my cargo pocket. If I am travelling I will carry all my spare mags loaded with me in the vehicle and usually a long gun too. I run across numerous people that will only carry their firearm and no extra ammo, I have even talked to some that will only carry a two shot derringer with no extra ammo. I like to be prepared for the worse and hope that I will never need any of it.

I carry an extra mag not only for extra ammo, but a lot of failures can be fixed quickly with a mag change.

Revolver days I always carry a speedloader or speedstrip.

I usually carry one extra 8-round for my 1911 45. That gives me 17 rounds. Rarely I will have two extra 8-round mags.

Always. Takes me around 7 seconds to put my mag carrier on. Plus it carries my flashlight, so it does double duty.

2 just seems to satisfy my requirements, whether it be my 1911, my XDs .45, or speed loaders for my 637.

I carry an extra 10 round magazine with a Glock +2 extension. Lately been carrying it in my pocket because the Glock mag holder I have is annoying to wear, uncomfortable, and I wish it had clips instead of needing to have your belt threaded through it.

If I'm carrying in a shoulder holster, I have two large capacity mags on the other side. If I'm carrying my Glock 43 in cargo shorts, I may have a spare mag or two in a pocket. Much of it depends on what area I'm going to be in.

OK, so far compared to everyone else it appears I tend to carry more ammo, I was expecting more people to carry two spare mags. I guess due to the fact that many kydex mag carriers are for two mags I figured that was more popular.

The vertical mag holders to me are uncomfortable. All of my mag holders are horizontal and they are just single holders.

I carry at least two spare seven round magazines in a vertical magazine holder. Sometimes, I carry a magazine in each outer pocket of my sport coat, for a total of four spare magazines. I tell Mrs DocV that I am "that bad" of a shot.

For my twin Glock 26s, I carry 1 spare 20-round mag, (Glock 17 mag with PearceGrip PG-39 baseplate finger extension that adds 3 rounds)

I usually carry two spares for my 1911 or hi cap 9mm in a vertical mag carrier on the belt.

I confess that sometimes I get lazy and just drop one spare into my left pocket, but I never go out with no spares.

I carry a 1911 about 75% of the time. Usually I carry an additional 8 rd mag, some times 2.
