Okay, if Taurus owns/makes Rossi, and Rossi revolvers (model #R46102) shows to be $77.00 less than Taurus' model 605B, why buy a Taurus? Why not just buy the Rossi, shoot it A LOT to break in the trigger, and be done? Is there that much difference in quality between two firearms by the "same" manufacturer, or is my thinking of the Taurus-Rossi relationship incorrect?

I'm not a big fan of Taurus or Rossi, but I would say the answer to your question depends on the reason you want the gun. If it's going to be a carry gun then I would definitely pay the extra cash for the Taurus....but only if you insist on Taurus. A nice Ruger would be a much better choice in my opinion....or S&W (even though I'm not a huge S&W fan either).

If you just want a cheap gun to plink with at the range then a Rossi would serve you well.

If you plan on doing a lot of shooting with it then I agree with the above statement. Buy a Ruger or an L frame S&W like a 586/686. Then go shooting until you go broke buying ammo.

Taurus makes a fine revolver. Good bang for your buck. Their lifetime warranty is a plus. Here is what Ruger says about their warranty...

The fit & finish on the Rossi is not as good as Taurus, S&W, or Ruger, but it should serve you well.

I am less than impressed with Taurus' most recent semi autos.

If I was to choose between Rossi and Taurus, I would go with Rossi.

But then, I do not own either. I have fondled both and like the Rossi better.

If you are going to carry this weapon I also would recomend the Taurus as most of the above. If you can afford it the Ruger is a better choice for accuracy & feel. If it is going to be a special purpose arm that is not going to see much powder residue then the Rossi is as good a choice as the T. I have a Charter arms .38 sp. w/ a 4 inch barrel that was what was available when I bought it for a "special purpose." It is left on the shelf in closet where the wife would go in case of a home invasion if I am not at home. When I bought it the 3 that were considered due to price & purpose were Rossi, Taurus, & Charter. All will do well for an arm that is not used much & is not required to be fun, accurate at 25 to 30 yds, & going to see 10K rounds. Decide your use & match the gun to the need.

Exactly. I'm not in the market for a revolver known for it's high quality. I'm just wanting a shooter. Something that I won't cry over if I sell it/scratch it/break it. Wanting a snubbie to have some fun with, carry with occasionally, and learn a few things on. What better to do that on than a $200.00 gun? I have to admit I'd shed a few tears over tearing up a $400.00 revolver. I might get flamed on for this one, but I've already got some good quality firearms that I trust my life to every day. I just need a toy, I guess.
