Recommendations for Pocket Carry in Jeans?

My current EDC is a S&W Shield in 9mm. Most of the time I carry it AIWB. However, I am sometimes restricted to pocket carry and the Shield is just a little bit too big and heavy to carry in a jeans pocket. Any recommendations for that kind of carry? I'm considering a .380, even though I know that that cartridge is marginal for defensive purposes. I'm also considering a Ruger LCR in .38 Spl. It's considerably lighter than the Shield, although it's almost too long for some pockets.

Thanks in advance,

Crash

I have a Taurus TCP in .380. I use it just for that, when my EDC just isn't right for the moment. I've never had a single malfunction with this gun. Decent priced and tucks right into the pocket in my Desantis Nemesis...looks like a phone in my pocket.

Cjwglock19,

Thanks for the recommendation. I've heard good things about the Taurus.

A 5-shot S&W revolver is a good choice for pocket carry.

I carry a backup gun in my pocket all the time. The Texas Defender 45ACP works for me and I can hold it in my hand without anyone knowing it.

2 quick shots until I can deploy 9 more from a 1911 seems like a fair fight to me...

My favorite is the Ruger LCP, but I also carry a Sig 938 on occasion. Either carry comfortably but the Sig is a heavier gun and requires a good belt. Also note that I wear Duluth jeans and they have a large pocket.

If you like the Shield, give the S&W Bodyguard a try. Mine runs fine, and fits my hand better than the LCP. I think the LCP is a little slicker around the edges, so may work better in jeans pockets. I'm not real comfortable with pocket carry when in jeans, but my Bodyguard + Mora holster works great with the shorts I typically wear.

Yep, Ruger LCP 9 fits the back pocket of Levis, Carhartt FR jeans & cargo shorts.

I pocket carry a Kahr PM9 in my jeans pocket frequently. I also car&W Model 60 some times. It I was buying another gun for pocket carry it would probably be the Sig P938.

It depends on the jeans. I have some jeans that are too tight for anything but a NAA Pug because of the pocket size and the jean fit.

I have other jeans that fit a little more loosely and have larger pockets. I pocket carry an SP101 in those. Just need a solid belt to hold them up.
