S&W Shield - Does it like to run wet or dry?

As a new S&W Shield owner, I have a maintenance/operation question: does it like to run wet or dry? I know some self-loaders like a lot of lube, but some don't want much at all.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Crash

I don't over lube Shield 9mm because I carry it regular. When I take it to the range I lube the rails with a little grease and a light coat of oil on the barrell and lug. Otherwise I just use light oil where the book recommends. Never had problems.

Minimal oiling with a little grease on the rails.
Too much lube is more likely to act as a debris magnet.
Some folks use something like frog lube for a dry lube.

Yup, both our Shields like white lithium grease on the rails and light oil on the barrel lug. We shoot them like we carry them, have never had a hiccup. The M&P line is my new "go to" series of hand warmers. I was an XD fan boy for a while, but they served as trades towards the current stable of over 8 M&P's.
Picking up new M&P 9mm 4.25 inch CORE with RM04 RMR and TLR-3 tomorrow as a matter of fact, new EDC once I get it all sighted in and function tested.

I lube my Shield the same way I do most of my pistols. Just like a Glock about 5 small drops of Gun Butter. All of the years and rounds through different pistols I have had no problems.
Too much of anything could be a bad thing. Too much lube and it causes build and could seize up during firing.
