need advice on reloading press

The only reloading press I have used is the Dillon XL650. It is a great press but I am not shooting/reloading nearly as much as I did when I was competing and I am not sure I need that much press anymore. I will be reloading mostly 9mm, maybe some .45 ACP and .223, and probably not that much.

What would be a good downgrade?

LEE are not piece of junk. Especially, the hand held and the turret are good to go. For progressive, Dillon or Hornady AP is the way to go.

To be honest I will agree that the Lee Classic Turret press is a decent option. I think you might be unhappy with any turret press if you want easy reloading after getting used to the Dillon. If your experience was a single stage press the turret would seem like a godsend and a progressive would seem like heaven on earth. I would however caution people if they decide they want a Lee Pro 1000 progressive press, in fact I would recommend they run away. The problem I have with the Pro 1000 is the priming system is junk. Words can not describe how bad it is.

I'd stick with the Dillon. I love my 650 and I run the same calibers through mine all the time.

If you still have the Dillon I would stick with it, if you really want to downsize you should be able to sell it at a reasonable price and get a 550 and still use a lot of what you have. I would consider swapping my 550 and a few $$$ for the 650 if you have any interest.

Once you use and master a progressive press moving to a single stage will be like watching paint dry...

Thanks for all of the input. I think Cabelas might have A Lee Classic Press on display and will try to check it out.

I still have the Dillon XL650 and have not decided which direction I want to go. Maybe I will just keep what I have, don't know.
