I am looking at getting a new gun...maybe for carry.
I have looked at the Springfield XD in 45ACP and 357 as well as the Glock in the same calibers.
Just curious as to if what members on here think are the pros and cons of each?
I already have a 45ACP, so I was thinking about getting the 357.
Thanks!

Springfield XD. If I ever have to leave a 1911 platform that is where I will go.
My .02cents & some think it worth half that.
Jbird will tell you the G.

How about both. I have an XD45 and a G21 (sorry LT). Carry both (at different times). All pro's, no con's on either. Or there's always the 1911 platform.

I prefer the Glock over the XD for a few reasons. The Glock feels less bulky, is easier to take apart and put back together, parts are abundant, cheap and easy to find and mags are cheaper.

I have a pair of XD's in 9mm and see no downside to them. They are accurate, easy to clean, lightweight and downright reliable. The best thing to do is go to a range with a rental gun in what you are looking at buying and give both a spin.

OK...Looks like the XD has a great crowd.
What about the XD versus a HK Tactical?

I have a Kimber 1911 now, but was looking for another gun.....the XD just looks sharp!
Heard awesome things about the Glock and HK also.

XD, Glocks have those finger grooves.

Personal preference - I like the grooves. They make it feel more stable in my small-ish hands.
I agree with those above that posted about how easy it is to get parts and accessories. It is no secret that I prefer Glock, but to be fair.....I have only shot one XD in the past and it was their sub-compact 9mm...it was very nice.
If finger grooves are a problem......there is no shortage of 2nd generation Glocks out there that do not have them.
Good luck.

I have XD's; a 9mm and the .45 ACP.
I have shot Glock's but they don't feel as good in my hand as the XD and the XD has the grip safety--to me a major advantage over a Glock; both the Glock and the XD have the trigger safety.
As far as disassembly... it's a push. I can take either one of my XD's down as fast as my son-in-law can his Glock.

I prefer the XD. I have an XD9 Sub Compact.
I have only shot a Glock a couple of times.
I went to the gun counter and asked for an XD and Glock, closed my eyes and pointed the gun. The XD was right on target, the Glock was not.

If you are looking for a 357sig caliber I would suggest a Glock 32 or 33.
You can buy a Glock 23 barrel, drop it in and shoot 40S&W and you can buy an aftermarket 9mm conversion barrel for cheap practice.
I don't know if you would have those options with an XD or if you care for them.
I'm partial to 357sig, but it is expensive to shoot. I have a SIG P229/357sig and I have a Glock33(357sig). I have 40S&W barrels for both guns and 9mm conversion barrels.
Diversity, Choice, they are not just for politics!!!!
