So it would seem the specs on the Glock 42 were leaked early.

Glock 42, 6+1 .380 ACP, pocket gun, MSRP $475

Thoughts?

7 rounds of .380 isn't enough.

Already have a S&W Bodyguard that carries 7 rounds of .380 for times that I can't carry anything else and it did not cost me, but $475.00.

A single stack 9mm would be more appreciated.

I'd buy one - Glock reliability and toughness - seven rounds is ok with me and, probably be extended magazine on the market soon as the pistol is released.

THIS

But I'll take a look if it has legit sights, real Glock-type trigger, real Glock-style Tenifer finish (all would be improvements over Ruger LCP). Might make a nice BUG/ankle gun.

on closer inspection, if this site is to be believed ...

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/1 ... -revealed/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

... then this G42 will have same general height and length dimensions as the 9mm Ruger LC9, meaning it's considerably larger than the LCP and thus considerably LESS INTERESTING to me.

Perhaps the same frame will be offered in 9mm later? Otherwise, this is a giant dud in the making (though it could be a nice IWB gun for those who are recoil averse and looking for a short-recoil operated .380 - instead of the harder recoiling direct blowback actions seen in many older .380 designs like Bersa, Walther, Sig 232 etc.

If Glock is finally going the .380 route, then they must be manufacturing the guns in the US now. It was the point system for gun imports that prevented them from importing .380's (see ATF Form 4590).

Wait a year before buying one. Don't forget the XDs and the M&P Shield debacles. :tiphat:

I will never forget the XDs debacles. But man I love the way that gun feels.

Didn't you hear, with the recent advances in ammo design the .380 performs just as well as the 9mm and .40.

The gunstore where my son works just got 39 XDs back from Springfield yesterday. Mine isn't due back until later in January, but I got a chance to handle one of the refitted guns, and it reminded me of how much I like my own and how much I can't wait to get it back. I couldn't help but wonder if the owner will sell those 39 guns as fast as he sold the first ones (he bought a large number when they first came out, and they were selling like hotcakes). I hope he does. Despite the "debacle" (a debacle mostly because of how it was handled by SA at the outset), it is still a very good gun.

Same here. So far it's been a caliber whose brass I equate to steel casings. Sometimes, when I pick one out of a fist-full of 9mm casings I say, "Ewwww!"
