Glock 30S or XD (S) 45
I am in the market for a subcompact 45 and the g30s and xds 45 are both top of my list. I was leaning towards the xds due to its slimmer size. However with the recent recall I have seriously been rethinking the stance. What is yalls opinion on the two? Recommendations, reviews, and anecdotes all accepted. Thanks guys

I sent my XDs back & will still take it over the G
I think perceived recoil is less in the XDs

Carry 24-7 or guess right.

Re: Glock 30S or XD (S) 45
I have had my Glock 30 for over 8 years and carry it daily and use it for IDPA competition.
It is extremely accurate, its recoil is very reasonable, it has been extremely reliable and probably approaching 9000 rounds, it is very easy to maintain.
I do not have large hands and the 'S' model was not available at the time. I might have chosen that one at the time but am so accustomed to it now that I would not bother with the switch now. I am so very satisfied with it that I have, literally, never considered changing my every day carry weapon of choice.
It is not ideal for IDPA because of the sight radius, but it shoots better than I do. Any errors have nothing to do with the pistol. I have a Glock 17 which would be better for competition but I rarely shoot that. I use the Glock 30 in IDPA because it is fun to shoot and I want to maintain my skills with my carry weapon.
I have shot an XD 45 but it was not the compact version. It is also a nice gun but it did not tempt me to change.
Hope that this helps.

Re: Glock 30S or XD (S) 45
I own the xds and one of my family members recently got the 30S(I haven't shot it yet). I will say the 30S with the mag extension feels about the same size as my G19. So I personally don't really qualify it as a subcompact, especially comparing it to the XDS. It's a tough decision. I love my glocks but I am very fond of how the XDS shoots and it's trigger feels amazing to me.

Thank you for the replies. Does anyone know if I was to go with the xds 45 if I would have any problems buying a new one? Im not sure if the recall would affect new purchases/orders.

Are you talking about the Glock 30SF? I have one and it is my EDC. Great gun and it probably shoots better than I do. I have also been thinking about running a match or two with it in IDPA just for the experience. I would like it if the guys would let me run once with the 21SF and then the 30SF to see if how much of a difference there might be.
I haven't really been shopping for a handgun very much lately, but I have noticed that the shelves seem pretty full again. You probably should have too much trouble finding a new one.

It all depends, if you're looking for a single stack(pocket carry) .45, then xds is your gun, i went with the 30S cause of the 10 rounds and yes it's the same size as a G19. I ordered one from GT distributor and i'm hoping i'll get it before christmas(gift to myself, lol). They are extremely back ordered . if you can find one it will be at a high price. good luck in your quest.
ps, Cdub 30S is a hybrid. 36 slide on a 30sf frame.

Both are fine guns. I say get what feels best in your hands. I like my small guns to have thin grips. Fat grips on the smaller glocks just don't work for me. They're both good shooters, XDs better for deeper concealment, but you give up the rounds.
I came to prefer a snub nose over my XDs. Less weight, better concealment, and I'm only losing 1 round. The XDs is also pretty heavy for what it is.

That's interesting. Is the .14 inch difference in the slide width the reason to do that or is there something else gained? I also a little surprised the narrower slide fits on the frame of a gun designed for a wider slide.aaangel wrote: ps, Cdub 30S is a hybrid. 36 slide on a 30sf frame.

People were doing this with the G30 anyway to get a slightly slimmer lighter slide, so glock basically decided to make a model out of itC-dub wrote:That's interesting. Re: Glock 30S or XD (S) 45
I personally would choose the G30. It's a little wider than most glocks. But Im a big Glock fan.
most glocks W = 1.2"
G30 W= 1.28
