I've been eyeballing the Remington 700 Police at the shop.
Anyone have any experience with one of these? It's tapped for scope mounts and I would probably get it with a nice Leupold scope and case.
It's the long barrel, .308 Win one. About $700 something sans scope.
Thanks for the advice,
nick

Great and accurate rifles. Police use them as snipers and the Marines have built their sniper weapons based on the action.
I have a friend who has a 700 Police and it's a sweet rifle.

I have the 308 with a 20" barrel and a Leupold 3X9 mil dot scope and love it. I used it for Precision Rifle at Thunder Ranch and had no problem hitting with the shorter barrel. I had ½ MOA head shots at 300 yrds, but beyond 300 yds, we shot only steel targets so I have no idea how the groups held up.
It's a tough rifle as well. I fell down the stairs in the Tower with the rifle slung over my back. I rode the rifle down, sheared the top turret from the scope, nearly broke my right arm and like any man, hopped up and said "that didn't hurt!" (I wanted to lay down and cry, but of course I couldn’t admit to being injured.)
The 700 PSS is a great rifle, especially for the money.

Chas.
