A firearms company that makes AR-15 style rifles for the iconic brand Colt, will open a plant in Breckenridge in Stephens County. Oregon company Bold Ideas confirmed the development Friday.

Bold Ideas goes by the name Colt Competition, making high accuracy rifles for competition shooting.
And this is encouraging:
The move by Colt Competition into Breckenridge comes as the CEO of Colt Manufacturing in Connecticut has said there will soon be few good answers to keep his company in the state. Connecticut passed some of the nation’s most restrictive gun laws this week.

I would like to have a born in Texas Colt. Even though a comp series rifle isn't needed I might still get one now.

That's great to hear... but... isn't leaving the rest of the company there- like saying they are fine with the law changes? Maybe they will pull it out in stages to minimize any disruption. (fingers crossed) The only way CT will really feel the loss is if the whole company leaves.

Some companies are heartless regarding employees. Colt is apparently not.

“The employees are what the company is,” continued Veilleux. “It’s not a building with a bunch of machines in it. The company is the employees. They’re proud of what they do, they represent their community – and I would say a lot more than some of the legislators do. They’re real people.”
It is unlikely that all of their current employees would move if the company did completely. It has to be a gut wrenching and potentially high risk situation for Colt.

Remember what happened with S&W when it got caught in the middle of the gun debate after a bad decision.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/2 ... 48503.html This time, there is no pro-gun administration to help them recover.

Bright Ideas is a Colt Licensee, not a division. They manufacture 3 "competition" level rifles, two .223/5.56 Wylde chambered and a .308/7.62 chambered modular clone of the LE901. $1600- $3100

Right now, I'm happy to see anyone leave the Northeast. If they're going to let politicians dictate to them, they have means to protest it. I only wish there were some way these companies could help with moving their employees as well as their operations. They will find out rather quickly that life is better here. I don't mind if Yankees come here. As long as they appreciate it and have nothing to say about how they did it back North.

The liberal voting union members can stay in the NE.

I'll admit I'm slow sometimes, but when did Oregon move to the Northeast?

Thank you Governor Perry for making Texas the place to be as a manufacturer.....regardless of the product, but especially now, for those who produce that our Second Amendment Rights are secured. Looking for more to make the move, and make Texas the Firearms Capitol of the U S A....
