FMJ rfile ranges in DFW

What ranges in the DFW area allow FMJ rifle cartridges? I know that Garland Shooting Range does not, and Elm Fork allows FMJ only for the 50 yard range. Are there other ranges that allow FMJ at any distance?

I have the same problem. I have quite a bit of the FMJ. Much of it from Wolf Ammo. They would not allow me to shoot it at Garland Public Shooting range. I think Bullet Trap outlawed steel core ammo. It is getting tougher by the year to find a place to shoot. I would love to find a place I could set up cans and water bottles for shooting. Paper targets are OK but lose their fun after an hour or so.

The Collin County range used to allow FMJ but they closed down several years ago due to the growth of the airport in McKinney. I don't know of any others. As a military surplus rifle collector this concerns me as well. I'll keep an eye on this post just in case someone knows where we can go to exercise our old war horses.

It's quite a drive, even for me, but I go to TacPro to shoot. They allow pretty much anything you can launch from the barrel of a gun.

I am not sure where they are located. Would you mind posting up the location. Might be worth the drive to get to do some fun shooting.

It's on highway 108. My last two hog hunts were on a property that shares a fence with TacPro. It's a little disconcerting to be staring at a feeder, just after dawn, and start hearing automatic weapons fire going off just a few hundred yards away.....but the animals have gotten used to it and even the deer don't raise their heads from whatever they're eating when it happens. They all just ignore it.

Yea, that's it. It's not close, but it's rarely ever crowded, and they have several ranges on the property you can shoot at. There is a pistol range up front. Then there is a 50 yard range. Those don't usually have targets up, but I usually take a spinning target to play around on that one; hardly anyone uses it. The 100 and 200 yard rifle ranges are right next to each other. Any further distances than that and you have to join their membership. You can drive along side the 1000 yard range. It's surprising how long that really is.

I don't think I could see the target at 1000 yards, much less hit the darn thing. Well, maybe, if it was the broad side of a barn.

How are are you trying to shoot? Shoot Smart in Fort Worth Allows FMJs in their private lanes. Only 0-15 yards but you can practice rifle to pistol transitions and there is no rapid fire rule. Wasn't sure if you were trying to shoot longer distances or just looking for FMJ Ok ranges. Oh and Elm Fork allows FMJs in their Tactical Bay. They even allow steel in that area.

The first thing I need to do is zero my scope at 50 and then 100 yards. I'd like to shoot 200 at some point just to see how accurately I can shoot at that distance. The problem is FMJ is a lot easier to find than JHP or SP.

There's also Magnum Sports up in Sanger.
