The above is an article, including 3 photos, of recent "active shooter training" that was held in the Lake Dallas (Denton County)
Middle School.

The "Lake Cities" consists of 4 towns: Corinth (population 19,500), Lake Dallas (population 7,100), Hickory Creek (population 3,247)
and Shady Shores (population roughly 1,500). These are just on the north side of Lake Lewisville, off I-35E.

Corinth, Lake Dallas, and Hickory Creek all have their own police forces. Shady Shores does not and contracts with Corinth PD for
police services.

Well, I was quite impressed that 40 officers from the 3 PD's combined for a week of "active shooter" training at a local school.

3,000 rounds of 9MM (shot from Glocks) and <.223?> from AR-15's were expended during the exercises. These rounds were Simunitions.

A few years ago they had this training. Officers were told that the BG's may chain the doors shut from the inside. If this is the case,
the LEO's were ordered to use their police vehicles to smash the doors down in order to enter the buildings and engage the BG's.

Does anyone know of any other tactics used during such an event?

Not sure discussion of active TTPs are prudent.

Stand around hiding behind the vehicles waiting for the shooting and screaming to stop, and then cautiously look inside.

I was not familiar with the acronym "TTP".

Take your pick from the link below:

I am going to go with tactile training procedures. Now, why on earth it would "not be prudent" in America is beyond me. We are a free and open country. It isn't like they are the secret police. The tactics they are practicing are readily available for public consumption all over the Internet and in darn near every video game kids across America play every day.

On a side note, that has got to be the fattest, most out of shape group of cops I have ever witnessed. Maybe they should introduce them to weight watchers. I thought cops and fire fighters were suppose to be in good shape. Those guys look like they never miss a free donut.

Sad as it is, you usually only have to be in shape to get hired. Not to keep your job.

There is/was one particular policeman in Mesquite PD that I know is pushing 450 lbs. He would not be able to chase down any suspect.

I can understand if the officer is relegated to a desk job but being out of shape to the point of obese is dangerous for a person who may find themselves scuffling or chasing a suspect. Those fatties are kidding themselves if they think they are going to do anything tactical while being 60 pounds over weight.
