Police: Armed burglar killed by homeowner

A northwest Loop-area homeowner shot and killed an intruder early today, Houston police said.

The dead suspect, who has not yet been identified, was shot by Peter Heckler, 51, when he threatened Heckler with a weapon while trying to break into Heckler's home about 3:45 a.m., police said.

Heckler was not injured.

Police are still investigating the case, which they said will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The suspect's identity is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office. "

I guess the BG's don't watch the news or read the paper. It seems like a lot of them are getting killed breaking into residences. Then again, if the crooks were smart they wouldn't be crooks.

Heckler should have brought his neighbor, Mr. Koch. Would have made a great headline...

Its getting rough in Houston.

Looks like another good shoot. Glad he was armed and decided not to be a victim.
