lost my front site...kinda
went to the range last night for the first time in a loooong time.
shotting the M&P Shield. i could hardly see the front dot. i think in my last cleaning, i got some solvent/oil in that little notch with the white dot, so it's not white anymore.
can i just use some white model paint and dab in a new dot? or is there something better?

on 2 of my guns the front sight is just black on black, so I went to a craft store, picked up an acrylic pen.
It did the trick and all for about $6

There have been several stories of the paint on the front sight just falling off of the Shields. You would think that was worked out long ago how to put a durable paint job on a sight. By all accounts, just dabbing it back on works fine and you get to pick the color.

It happened on my 9c.

It happened on my M&P45 full-sized. I'm going to replace the sights with Trijicon HD sights anyway, like I did on my XDm.tomtexan wrote:It happened on my 9c.

White out woks well as does Testors model enamel. Clean the surface well with some rubbing alcohol on a Q Tip then use a toothpick or sewing needle to put a drop of paint in the dot. Fingernail polish works great especially if you are looking for a color to coordinate with your holster.

Same happened to my Sig P238. I used my GF's yellow nail polish. Worked like a charm.

They sell a paint that has a very high luminescence just for the purpose of painting the dot on sights. http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product. ... tId=740388" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
That was just one of many I found doing a simple google search for sight paint. Cabelas is out of stock but do the search and thousands of options pop up.

Happened on my shield too. Acrylic paint did the trick. I think it actually came out brighter than the original paint.
