I'm confused...Not really...
I was thinking (I do that from time to time) that it might be a good idea not to have the next NRA convention in a place where B.arbara S.treisand roosts...
Why pump millions of dollars (and free publicity/irony) into the local economy that is 180 degrees out from the agenda we promote...
Now, of course that could change if the voters there do a clean sweep of that government body...Then of course, I think Columbus should get that convention at that time...
They would of course have to repeal that ban...And registration too...

It hurts if you do that too much.

I think it s a great idea to have it right under her nose. It is also a good chance for the local members to come out and show thier gun owning pride and for some for the closet members to come out of the closet.
Heck after seeing that nothing bad will happen it might win a few converts.
Its easy to have the convention in a place like Texas where there isn't as much fear of guns and where people aren't asahmed of gun ownership.
The only way to fight ignorance of guns and is head on. It would also serve to show that the NRA isn't the big monster that some perceive.
Every few years it should be held in a slightly less gun friendly environment.
Of couse I would love to see it happen in DiFi's back yard, but that's a few years down the road. Shoot most of the guns that I saw at this years convention wouldn't even be allowed in the state.

Although I agree in principle that its good to have conventions and shows right in the middle of all that...
I do have a slight rub with the money that is brought into communities like that, that those same politicians can use for other liberal/socialist projects/agendas...
How much money did Houston make when the NRA came into town earlier this year???
Thanks Chas for the schedule...muh bad...

You're right, until this morning we were going to Columbus. I called to see why my NRA Roster was incorrect and they reminded me we had a problem with Salt Lake City facilities and changed the location two months ago. Sorry about the bad information.
However, NRA held a press conference this morning and announced we would not be going to Columbus, because of the "assault weapons" ban passed by their city counsel. I don't yet know where it will be held. I kind of like Houston. :D
Regards,
Chas.

Short and sweet...
I think they should have it in Dallas...It'll give me an excuse to come up and stay with Granma for a few days...
But Houston would do in a pinch I suppose...

Either one would be great. I live in the DFW area but did attend the convention in Houston this year and would do the same in 2007.

I was re-reading some things today...(that hurts too!)
You know what might be a good place to hold an NRA convention...
Tyler, Texas
Just big enough to have a good facility to have it in, and small enough to truely benefit from the $$$ coming into the community...
I bet 15 million would go real far to increase their police and fire protection in that city...
I think the same amount of people would travel and participate in a venue like that...
Just a thought...
