Cheaper Than Dirt! suspends firearms sales

Wow.

"Cheaper Than Dirt! is suspending online sales of firearms effective immediately. We are reviewing our policy internally, and will continue to be the leader in the outdoor industry with our full line of gear and accessories."

Cowards. I also saw where Walmart removed Bushmaster rifles from the shelves in the stores where they had them, and Dicks Sporting Goods is "suspending sales of 'Modern Sporting Rifles,'" which is their newspeak for AR platform rifles. Three more chains I'll never give another firearms related dollar to.

This reminds me of the hit that S&W took when they caved on the gun lock thing...

:iagree:

Definitely cowards! All this is going to accomplish is support for the anti-gun activist. They're going to be able to say, "See, ________ has stopped selling their assault rifles. When the stores recognize there's a problem it's clear we need to ban all assault weapons." This is only going to end badly. 4

I too will no longer support or spend my money at any store that suspends the selling of perfectly legal firearms. Pathetic!

That is crazy. Don't they ship to FFLs anyways? How does their sales of guns have any effect on "gun control" what so ever?

1.) Discovery Channel cancels 'American Guns' show after Facebook protests

2.) AND..... then there is this, posted on Cheaper Than Dirt's Facebook page just a few minutes ago:

"Cheaper Than Dirt! is suspending online sales of firearms effective immediately. We are reviewing our policy internally, and will continue to be the leader in the outdoor industry with our full line of gear and accessories."

3.) In wake of Conn. School shooting, group that owns Bushmaster selling:

"Over the past six years, Cerberus has amassed a holding company called the Freedom Group, which has purchased some of the biggest names in American gun manufacturing, including Bushmaster. The firm’s decision to sell off the interests in firearms companies and return the capital to its investors underscores how Friday’s shooting -- which took the lives of 20 children -- has reinvigorated the national debate on gun control, not just for activists, but also for investors."

4.) Dick's Sporting Goods announces suspension of some rifle sales:

Yesterday, I saw AR style firearms at one of the local Walmarts. I wonder if its a regional decision and not a corporate one. Dick's Sporting Goods lost my business a long time ago. Until a couple of months ago I was still buying from Cheaper Than Dirt but then their pricing was no longer cheap as their moniker implied so I haven't done much business with them since, however, I'm not going to react to the recent announcement just yet. If they are just temporarily suspending firearm sales to ensure that their policies and paperwork cannot be leveraged by the government then I'm ok with that. I'll be watching for any feedback they provide over the next few weeks especially once the see the impact of their decision.

return the capital to its investors ...BLAH BLAH BLAH ...for investors."
pretty good timing since gun stocks skyrocketed because of increased sales due to talks of bans ... so prices increased ... I see it more profitable to sell when prices are high ... though it hurts "the cause" it's a good profitable timing for business INVESTORS to cash in

I stopped buying from them long ago because the prices weren't that good, and got even worse when they added shipping.

Couldn't help but notice that at the same time CTD announced a suspension of gun sales, they jacked the price of a PMag up to $60.00. :smash:

Cheaper Than Dirt = not-that-cheap. I stopped buying from them a year ago due to their unrealistically high shipping charges. I was on-line with Bud's Gun Shop earlier this morning and now their web site is down and has been down for quite a while. When they were up, I was looking at 5.56 carbines - aren't many left. So glad I bought my Bushy .308 the day after the election :thumbs2: .

I have not purchased anything from them in several months. That did not stop me from sending the following to their "Contact Us" page

Good idea I also added that I don't want to receive their mailings any longer....
