Very good rifles for the price. Not a fan of their regular 1:9 twist, but that's a matter of personal preference.

I just started going to gun shows again a few of months ago when looking for my AR. I noticed these guys, Wyndham, had some really nice looking rifles at decent prices that usually came with some kind of optic. For me, I was looking for something with a 1:7 twist, so these were a non-starter for me. Very nice rifles if 1:9 twist is acceptable.

This is a great video on the Windham AR's.

I'm no AR guru (despite the totally unrelated screen name) but this is one of best deals going right now on a basic, quality AR-15 carbine (assuming you're ok with 1/9 twist)

I had a CMMG for a while and it's a good weapon. The gurus seem to indicate CMMG "does it right" with all the little nit-picky Mil-Spec stuff and I never had a single problem with mine.

I am also doing my homework on an AR and found about Windham last Friday. Went to Academy for some supplies and they had both the SRC model (flat top) and MPC (detachable carry handle). I thought it was a Chinese-made knock-off and asked the guy behind the counter about it. He told me the story of Windham and that those are very solid and high quality AR's; in his opinion the best entry-level AR available.

Due to my limited budget, I was considering an M&P Sporter, or the DPMS or Bushmasters entry-level (around $700-800), but I think I'm about to settle on the MPC... I like the M4 style AR's and for me the 1:9 twist is not a big issue, as for me this is going to be a fun rifle to use at the range with my family.

The Windham looks more solid and well built than the others I've held...

Facts about ww.

-Old owner of bushmaster
-Re-hired old bushmaster builders as soon as no-compete was up
-Has a lame looking roll mark
-They work just like most ar's out there and have heard no bad things about cs
-Fit and finish is within spec
-1:9 is ok most like 1:7


If you are shopping look at palmetto, spikes, bcm all those are around the same price as a ww. Personally I think its a good ar but im turned off by the roll mark and for that reason alone would never buy one. There are many good ar's out there I would look at warranty and cs when making a decision.

Also read the Rifleman review & then the following reviews. Nothing bad there & the 1-7 vs 1-9 twist was the only thing there.

If you're just a plinker, 1:9 is perfectly fine. If you need to drop steel (or, um, other heavy targets) at 400-500m, you're gonna want to shoot 77gr heavies with a 1:7 twist.

Honestly, 1:9 is perfectly fine for 90% of the AR owners.

1-9 dont bother me at all.
If I need to reach out to 500+ I will drop the legs on my bypod. M1A rests on top.

Thanks for the article Oldcannon. When I read it I did remember the re-start of the lod Bush factory. I had forgot completely that this was the name.
