Front Sight Telephone Solicitation
I received a rather lengthy pre-recorded telephone solicitation from Front Sight this past Saturday. I wasn't at home when it came in, but found it waiting for me on my answering machine. I was shocked that such a quality organization would make telephone sales calls - especially given my status for such things.
I'm currently enrolled on the "Do Not Call" list (to prevent telephone solicitation) thus I wonder what on earth possessed FS to call.
Have any of you experienced one of these solicitations or am I the sole recipient?
Thanks!

Re: Front Sight Telephone Solicitation
Do you have an existing relationship with them? As I understand it this can be as minor as having sent them an email inquiry in which you included your phone number. If so, they are allowed to call.Abraham wrote:I received a rather lengthy pre-recorded telephone solicitation from Front Sight this past Saturday. I believe their phone tree allows you to stop them from calling but you have to pick up the call when they call though. HTH.

Thanks all for the information.
Never again will I include a phone in an email inquiry. (though I don't recall doing so, I suppose I could've...)

Gotta watch those dawgs.
I went to Lowe's Garden Center one day to buy a small dollar item. The checkout gal casually requested my phone number while ringing me up. I demanded to know why she needed that as I was paying cash. She replied she didnt know other than she was instructed to do so. I told her that wasnt gonna happened and to inform management that any more attempts to invade my privacy and in the future I will leave my purchase at the counter and walk.
Lowes wanted to market me regardless of whether it was welcomed or not...and if not on the DNCL, Lowes could have also sold my number to other marketing companies.
Also be careful of giving your zip code when paying by credit card at places such as Academy.(I either refuse or make up one just for fun.) They can very easily locate you for marketing purposes.
If you want to file a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry it is quick and simple. I use it every once in a while and it is effective.

thats why when someone asks for my zipcode or phone number i just make one up. i do use a number that starts with 411 so its not a number someone would get a call from.

Both are gathered for demographic purposes. I have never had a problem with just saying "no". They just say OK. It's not like I'm the only one to do that.alvins wrote:thats why when someone asks for my zipcode or phone number i just make one up. i do use a number that starts with 411 so its not a number someone would get a call from.
Course, then I fill out their survey cause I just *know* I'm going to win that $5000 card and now they have my number anyway.

If you still have the message it says at the end to press a number to be removed from the call list. Just FYI if they call again you can stop it with a push of a button .

Re: Front Sight Telephone Solicitation
Front Sight has always been more about marketing than training, so I wouldn't consider them a quality organization. For a Quality Organization with sight in the name I would suggest looking up Gun Site which was founded as the "American Pistol Institute" by none other than Colonel Jeff Cooper.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

This is a list of telephone informational codes. They do work.
I recorded the "disconnected number " code to a handheld recorder. I then recorded it at the same time I recorded my answering machine's out going message (ie "I am unable to take your call at this time, etc.) If it is a person calling they may be confused but generally leave a message. If it is a robo call it will remove you from the caller list. After a few months I had no more robo calls.
I was told that I could playback the code at very low volume and it would still work and not cause as much confusion for people calling.
